Friendly staff and great thrift store items. All donations and profits help the Pets and Animals in the surrounding areas. Drop by one of the two locations and Volunteer or adopt a loving friend. Tell them Tim sent you. Huga and God Bless...

Awesome thrift store for a good cause. All employees are volunteers and all proceeds go to the care of animals. They have great prices. Just got an almost brand new carpet cleaner for $25 yesterday. Never seen anything overpriced here. They have a great bookroom. Store is very clean. It's laid out a little weird, but nothing too bad. I donate all of my unwanted things here.

For the people who have submitted bad reviews because they were not satisfied with the pet they adopted: This listing is for the New Leash on Life thrift store, not the animal adoption and rescue operation existing in parallel. The volunteers who work in the thrift store do not have any bearing on how the animal adoption side of the organization functions. Proceeds from the store are used to fund rescue and adoption efforts. Also, the people who work in the store are volunteers; they have donated significant amounts of time to the cause of helping animals in crisis. Please do not disparage them because the dog you just adopted chewed up your sofa.As far as thrift stores go this one is excellent. Higher quality merchandise with reasonable prices abound. Fantastic book section. Probably the top thrift store in Huntsville.

Very negative experience adopting a cat. I was not told the cat I was adopting was in such poor health, I didn't find out until we got him home and settled I contacted the lady who fostered him about his condition and denied even knowing he was sick. He has a severe respiratory infection, the next morning he woke up with two eyes matted shut ( double conjunctivitis )and he had an infected wound on his back caused by another animal at the foster (the vet said it was about a week old sore) under his long hair and he was he was totally flea infested , and had an awful case of tapeworms secondary to the flea infestation. also had horrible mange and feces stuck to his bottom . So bad that his butt was bleeding ! (I realize I should have noticed this when I picked him at the adoption tent even. But I didn't think to check out the cats bottom while considering a possible adoption .)The vet contacted a new leash on life about the cats poor health , a new leash on life was suppose to contact me. They didn't ,and I waited over a week (submitted multiple emails and called to no avail) the vet ended up giving me a direct phone number to someone who works there. I have been in contact with her (Diane ) for over a month now. She tells me she is going to call me back in a day or two and doesn't then I call back and she says the same thing I have over 250 dollars in vet bills just for the first two weeks of adopting my cat. He is in much better health now but I want this to just be a warning to anyone wanting to adopt from this place. They need to do better checks on who is fostering their animals and they are awful at communicating! They do not care what condition the animals they are putting up for adoption are in. They just want to make a buck, or so it seems.Very disappointed .

Love this place! So glad their in 5 points, i can always run in and find great things. I went today and was amazed at the new arrangements of clothing racks and new furniture glass and metal tables, great lamps, 4 crock pots, a glider (porch?) swing, lots and lots of nice mens shirts and jeans this time around.

The proceeds from this no-kill shelter go to the care of the animals. Merchandise is top quality. Clothes are excellent and constantly refreshed. Best book deals in Huntsville.Adopted a dog at the Adoptafair last November. One of the best moves I've ever made. Sweet, adoring, house broken. Adoption process was quick and painless. Don't forget the Senior dogs.

We got an 8-week old German Shepherd mix from them about a month ago. We’re from Tennessee and contacted them online. They were wonderful and kind and helped us bring our new pup home quickly. Our puppy is healthy and happy and ready to explore the world. They even included his neuter surgery and microchip in the adoption fee. We picked him up from the vet and although he has a lot of training ahead of him, he’s a joy!

This is hands down my favorite thrift store! I go every Wednesday when they open at 11:00. They always have really cool merchandise! I’ve never been disappointed! Also, prices are very reasonable and people that work there are super friendly. I recommend checking it out 100%!

I have adopted two dogs from New Leash on Life. Both Sadie and Ginny are great girls. New Leash on Life made it so easy to adopt. My granddaughter is looking for a dog now. Waiting to hear back if she gets to adopt 'Merry'.

As someone that has spent the last 10 years in animal rescue, managing a city shelter, a professional dog trainer, etc in a large city I am appalled and disgusted at how this group treats their volunteers and dogs/puppies. The toxicity of a few volunteers is heavily overshadowed by the many amazing volunteers that do this for the right reasons. They are only about their numbers.

Only now saying something due to advice from out lawyer but they fostered a pit bull out to our neighbor without any records or rabies shots in 2014. The dog attacked my son and 4 other people. Over 100 stitches in all, was glad that no one was killed. They said that the dog had been properly socialized when it obviously had not. Also, all of the people bitten had to go through rabies shots because there was no records on the dog. We found out later through the lawyer that new leash on life has a deal where they back door the dogs from the Huntsville Animal Shelter before they are actually checked in. That way they don't get euthanized but there is also not a record when that happens. What organization fosters out dogs without rabies shots? This one does...

I fostered for these people and they’re extremely unprofessional, their main concern is getting as many animals as they can fixed and then chipped so that they own them.... they don’t actually get them all the shots that they need... they have some twisted agreements with the local vets that they run them threw, during the stages of getting them chipped (again so that they can say that these animals are their property) they don’t get there puppy parvo shots or check for heartworms, or vaccinate against rabies!!! They claim when you fill out an application that they will come to your house and investigate your home, they will check all your vet references....(,Has anyone recieved a call back after filling out an adoption form?). Just the fosters, Yet at there tent events where they sling puppies, hundreds, at the highest price possible i did NOT witness any home inspection or vet references being checked. The puppies I raised that we given 1 round of shots at their facilities and dewormed went for $325 each. When asked if i could adopt one that i fell in love after around 4 months of raising and feeding, buying all supplies myself, they took him from me and i was told i could not afford him. He was adopted out at an event at a pet store, no home inspection.. no vet reference just $350.

After searching through shelters all day, we came to a pet fair at the local pet store with high hopes we would find our future pup. We found the perfect puppy, filled out the paperwork, had her in our hands and ready to love her. Before adopting out the pets, they make you speak to a “counselor”. She told me that because we live in an apartment, we should get a cat. I am highly offended she would think that because we live in an apartment, we couldn’t give the dog what she needs. The, so called, counselor was very discriminating and extremely rude. I do fully understand that they want what’s best for the animals, but we are avid hikers and we’re looking forward to sharing our love for the outdoors with a dog. I do not appreciate being judged for living in an apartment, which has a dog park so I know we aren’t alone. Hopefully the “counselor” finds the perfect home for her.

I would love this little thrift store, but the last time I was in I had my 3yo great-niece with and she had an emergency and we were told there is NO bathroom. We were in the middle of shopping and probably would've spent a bit more.

Adopted a young dog (4 mos) at Jones Valley Petsmart early this year. She was shy but showed interest in us. Volunteer/foster Mom shared lots of info that helped us make a good decision to adopt. Our pup is just amazing. She is sweet, obedient and loves to play frisbee. We are so glad we adopted from New Leash. Thanks to the organization and its volunteers.

Great thrift store. Always find something to buy. Lots of books. Usually some nice dishes, jewelry and other things. Not a "junk" store. Fun shop.

I went to the Jones Valley Pet Smart today. I had ALL intentions in adopting a cat. I was VERY intrested in one of the cats that was being adopted. I opened the cage of the cat I was intrested in and a girl from New Leash slammed the door closed and said that I could not handle the cat. ?. If I am going to bring an animal into my home, I need to now if we can bond. Is this cat good for both of us. I tried to ask several questions to the girls that were attending to the 5 cats you had up for adoption. They were into their own conversation, they had no intention on helping the people that they were there to help take a cat out of your care and put into a home that would love an adopted cat forever. I am aware that you run your sevices by volunteers. But your whole GOAL is to make families happy by bringing new life to them through a New Leash On Life. I came to you today to breath new breath into a new member into my family. But the girl that closed the door on me, also closed the door on one of your adoptees. My son adopted one of your dogs to day and was taken care of very well. That dog has a New Leash on Life. I just wish that I could have the same thing with a new cat.Mark CoteHarvest Al.

I have been there in the past and been pleased. At this time I want to donate furniture to them. There is no way to get in contact other than going over there. An email or FB contact... suggestions.

Horrible experience adopting a dog at the white tent event in Jones valley. We paid for him signed the contract later to be told they wanted to do a home inspection. We agreed and they didn't come. After 2 days they called me and said someone else had already adopted the dog to choose another 1. We drove an1 hr meet the dog later to be told they didn't think we were a good fit for him.I was upset because my daughters were crying. The rude director KAREN had the nerve to say I needed to teach my daughters disappointment. Really?!?!?! Got a refund and left. Idk if she is racist or they don't care but I will say that someone who has no compassion for children should not be taking care of dogs!

Donations are their lifeblood. You can find furniture, clothing (womens, men, and children) jewelry, handbags, books, dvds, housewares and some childrens toys and there are even areas for mixer beater blades, power cords of all types and a cute shelf area with doggie items. The front of the store is set up like a cute little gift shop. Merchandise changes quite often so if you see something grab it now cause it may not be there tomorrow. So when you are cleaning out that closet, pantry or spare room consider taking your clean, unbroken, and still useable items to New Leash on Life. Not only will your donation help the homeless dogs and cats here in Madison County, you will get a tax deduction slip. I just love this place for all they do for the homeless animals.

Hours says open until 4 on here. Decided to make a trip and pulled up to an older lady rudely locking the door and pointing to the closed sign before i could even park. Will not be doing business here again despite what good they may do no reason to treat the public like that.

They did not vet the dog we adopted, They were supposed to mail his records and over a week later we had no records and he attacked our dog. Found out he had no records, be had not been vetted since they got him and now we don't know if he has something our dog will contract. We were not told when we adopted him he had aggression issues. Now the director will not answer her phone or call us back. They have broken laws they have to follow and now we have an injured dog and I have a bite wound!!
