Many people praise Publix as if it's the best place to shop. Don't get me wrong the stores are always clean and organized, but customer service always trump all of that. It's sad that the employees will speak and greet you while the manager's demeanor is quite nonchalant. I was in this location twice and either time the manager opened his mouth. That alone make me not wanna spend my money here.

Judging from how I have seen the employees treated at this location, there’s 2 reasons this store is failing. Reason #1 is there are managers in this store that treat the employees like they are less than and they do not want to associate with the employees outside of asserting their power or wanting/needing to yell at someone and let someone know who’s the boss and the dept. managers get that from the store managers and the store managers get that from their higher ups and that seems to keep this gloom and doom atmosphere in this store. I’ve walked in many different Publix locations and just walking in this store there is an atmosphere of nobody wants to be there and it’s like a dark cloud inside the store. Reason #2 is you only have a handful or workers that are willing to go above and beyond and outside of that handful of workers the word “teamwork” has no meaning at this store. Majority of the workers are looking to get out of there asap and there is no pride taken in the work that is done which will happen when nobody hears “good job” or “well done”. When you have new employees that want to put smiles on peoples faces, they eventually see they are the only ones wanting that to happen so eventually they give up on that and end up being an unpleasant manager or an unpleasant employee. If those things were fixed this place would be a pleasant place to shop

Very disappointed with how I was treated on today. Woman looked at me as if I wasn’t a customer. I made sure I read her name tag. I am a frequent customer of this location. However Vicki in the deli was very rude and not attentive. She was more concerned about closing the kitchen down instead of assisting me. Will not come back to this location!!!!

Found what we needed and were on our way quickly. No complaints.Update: Still in and out quickly. I don't typically shop at Publix but there are a few small things I can only get there and have always been pleased with the experience.

The employees are always suspecting people of theft and even stand beside you as your checking out. They stare you down the moment you enter their establishment only for their own benefit. The deli doesn't care they make you wait for nothing and don't make sandwiches. The bakery is the exact same if not worse. I have absolute disgust for them as they do for me when I enter. These people think everyone who is not rich or higher class steals from them. This is not how to run a business normally businesses want to keep customers. Even the manager and district manager haven't rectified these incidents that have occurred. The store manager only cares for himself and is disrespectful. Publix employee "Sandra" is always assuming people steal and stands over you while checking out. This place should be shut down! Publix doesn't allow split payment at self checkout. However, some card payments will allow for split payment. I believe Publix is prejudiced against people without all funds within a single card. Walmart allows this on every register. Instead they disgrace customers and send them to a register with a printed transfer receipt to see a cashier. Basically enlisting you to be judged and shamed all because you don't have all the funds for a single card.

The customer service is awful since I worked at Publix years ago. One lane open and none of the self check outs taking cards, sounds a bit Walmart-ish to me. I know Mr. Jenkins is not pleased! My cashier (Barb) no greeting, no thank you, and 2&2 must be a thing of the past unless Ebony was just not feeling it today. Either way the culture has gone down and it’s really sad. Publix used to be a place where shopping was a pleasure, now you may as well go to Walmart.

They are always well stocked and you can find almost everything you need there. Shelves are kept orderly, and they have the best fried chicken of any Publix, hands down!!!

I ordered the chocolate strawberry cake for my granddaughters 18th birthday and it was absolutely stunning and it was absolutely delicious thank you Publix for a memorable 18th birthday for my granddaughter

Other than a few items that I buy regularly the Hueytown Publix usually has a good selection. They hardly ever have Ramen noodles of all things & it cant be bc they can't get them bc food giant & piggly wiggly ALWAYS has a shelf full of ALL flavors.

Okay I am advocating public as one of the most customer employee health conscious places to shop . The number of ay below greedy Wal mart . There is an associate as soon as you swipe she cleaning the pos. The cashier got the belt . There is an associate who walks the whole store wiping down islesI will never ever go to Walmart again .Publix thank you for being considerate during these times of safety and concernI am now showing all places that are taking our health needs first instead of profitI have permission for all images shownI’m totally impressed with Publix

This Publix is similar to the one in Hoover. I really loved the Publix in Hoover. The decor, the space, and the products. The Bessemer location feels old but i bet it's one of the newer ones. Hell it was built along the rest of the stores. The one Publix that oversee the Hueytown is great.....for a grocery store.

It's a spotless facility with friendly people and a small variety of choices of different foods and other Delicacies. They just started making sushi, which is fantastic. It's just a small Publix.

Customer service at this location has gone down drastically. Over half of the employees are rude and some attitudes are just plain nasty. From customer service desk, the bakery, the deli, and the cashiers. The bakery employees don't like to answer any questions about the cakes (especially the ones working in the mornings) as if the cake book is supposed to answer all of your questions. They always act as if you are interrupting them. The lady working customer service don't like to give out rain checks even though the item is clearly out of stock. The self checkout cashiers don't greet you and the deli employees give the impression that they hate their jobs, because they don't like to assist you. And don't get me started on the man in the deli who wears the red/pink shirt daily. At this point, a person could just shop at Walmart and save some money especially if you're going to receive the same treatment.

Went in to get items for my daughter. First time to shop at the Publix in Hueytown. Greetings as I entered the store. The areas I shopped were clean and well stocked. Had to stop by the Pharmacy. Their customer service was outstanding. No waiting in check out. Cashier and front end employees were friendly and helpful. Of course, Thanks for shopping at Publix!

Publix is known for their bakery but I was really disappointed with my last visit.I wanted a nice bday cake for my daughters bday dinner .They didn't have any variety at all.What they had was one type of square and round cakes and honestly they looked plain and boring.And I know everything everywhere prices have significantly increased but 40$ plus for a regular boring cake ummm no!Still, I was willing to buy my daughter her cake it was her choice after all.We ended up walking out.No birthday cake for McKenzie.

The front employees are great always happy and helpful. But the deli team is extremely slow and always seem to be having bad days EVERYDAY! There is no sense of urgency back there even during rush hour times. I’ve seen plenty of customers leave because of the wait or their attitudes and I am one of them.

The low score is because of the deli. They are under staffed badly the workers do the best they can. But the main thing I saw were the flies. All over the bread. I mentioned it and she said there was nothing they could do. She was frustrated. Publix can do better than this. Nasty

Really nice place that is kept up well and has extremely friendly employees.Very efficient check-out service and excellent produce department along with the floral department.Wonderful personnel in the deli and bakery department also.Very clean restrooms.Handicap parking available with ample parking in front of the location.This Publix is part of a strip mall that includes other retailers.Has recycle containers in front for plastic and styrofoam.Busier than ever still a great grocery shopping experience.

I just bought a rotisserie chicken from the deli. Get it home and the wings were missing off of the chicken. Bones loose in the bag. Did somebody eat off of this then put it in the display to be sold???Totally disgusted. I don't want a refund or a replacement. Absolutely unexcusable. I would give 0 stars out of 5 if I could. This place is turning into walmart. Yall are hiring ANYBODY.

I have to change my review. Because I loved going shopping here. But the last two times I went shopping, something has been either bad and in date or dried out and no good.Let me explain: 1st time I bought some worstershire sauce. It was wrapped up in paper so didn't notice mold growing inside.I returned it on my next shopping trip.Had to get a different brand because all of them looked funny and still selling them.They are in date but it clearly is growing something inside.Now my husband tells me that the 5 cans of grizzly poches are all dried out. Now I have to make another trip . Every time I go shopping my family spends 3 to 4 hundred dollars. Every trip. I know most of the people in there spend that or more.Guess it's time to venture out and give another company our money.Any suggestions???
