My dog was shot and spent over a week at another vet and I didn't even understand what was going on with him when they sent him home. So I take him to Dr Young and when I picked him up I understood what was going on with him because Dr Young took the time to explain everything in detail. The facility was very clean and tidy and the employees were very friendly and genuinely care about the animals under their care. I was super impressed with my whole experience there and will be using Guntersville Animal Hospital for my all my animals.

We used their boarding services a couple weeks ago for 3 days and we were very happy with how the entire staff treated our baby girl Hart. We were very comfortable with everything after we walked thru the facility ( unannounced ) and seen the other fur baby in VIP and I knew that's where I'd used from now on AND the price was very reasonable. Dr Young and his staff at the Guntersville Animal Hospital & Surgery Center are very knowledgeable and professional. They have always been caring and compassionate to us and our fur babies. We had to have one of them put down because she was going through liver failure due to cancer and they made the transition as peaceful as possible.

I’m not one to leave bad reviews, but if I can HELP and SAVE someone else’s furry friend, then it is worth the review to me. My husband and I were up visiting his family, when my dog developed blood in her urine. I waited a few hours and decided to make an appointment at this vet- it seemed to have great reviews. I brought my dog, Molly, in for an appointment at 11 am yesterday. We explained that she had been at a boarding facility a week prior, and I was concerned for a UTI. They proceeded to draw blood and run a urinalysis on Molly. They brought Molly back to us and said it would be 15-20 minutes for her labs to result. We were told that Molly’s urinalysis showed no bacteria and no blood. I assured them that Molly was having bright red blood flowing directly in her urine stream. We were told that she did have a genetic condition called a vulvular overlap which can put her at an increased risk for developing a UTI. They stated that all of her lab work and urinalysis was normal and Molly was fine, it was just most likely “stress from traveling” that was causing her to have blood in her urine and being a little lethargic. She was not given any fluids, any antibiotics, and we were not given any further discharge instructions after paying $192 to be told “everything looks fine” and “nothing is wrong.” We were also told by the vet, that he was not going to prescribe any antibiotics since she didn’t need them. The morning after her vet visit, I had a strange feeling that she was misdiagnosed and something was not right. That morning we left and proceeded to a pet urgent care in Montgomery on our way home. Molly was diagnosed with a complicated UTI and had we waited a few more days, she would be in kidney failure. Her urinalysis showed a high red blood cell count along with every indication for a UTI in dogs. Not only that, but her lab work was not normal and indicated that Molly has potential stones with a high struvite crystal count. Since her other labs indicated that she was also very dehydrated, she received subcutaneous fluids in attempt to rehydrate her and prevent further kidney damage. Her lab work there also indicated a severe UTI. So not only were we told Molly’s lab work, UA, and physical exam looked okay with zero indication of a UTI, but less than 15 hours later, she was diagnosed with a COMPLICATED (difficult to treat) UTI with kidney involvement. So a few things could have happened, which include, #1- they did not draw labs or do a UA and took advantage of a young couple or #2- they are smart enough to read lab results and knew having to treat Molly would take away from their holiday weekend. I asked for her vet records and lab results this morning, so I could send them to my vet at home, and they proceeded to only send the general “subjective complaint” along with what they did do (UA, hematology, etc.) without results. After asking for the results a second time via email, I still did not receive them, and there is a obvious reason for that. Molly is now being treated properly with the proper care, and might I add, a severe, complicated UTI would not have developed within 15 hours. Save your time, money, and fur babies. They deserve to be treated fairly, like family, and I hope I can help save others. Had we trusted this vet, Molly may have died within the next few days. This has been an obvious ongoing UTI. Always trust your instincts! Bright red blood in your dogs urine is never normal. Always advocate for your fur babies and if you think something is off, then it probably is.Response-Never once did we ever say it was common for Molly to urinate blood nor were we given the option of ABX. She has never urinated blood until we brought her, which we stated clearly. Two separate vets confirmed a severe kidney infection along with hematuria. These are her lab results less than 24h after your “clear” results. You got a urine sample from where? You and I both know that a UA from a dirty floor would never come back clean. Thank you for proving my point (As an RN-BSN who deals with critical labs on the daily)

Being new to the area and first time visit, I was unaware of the flow of things at this new office. After voicing my concerns, it was immediately addressed and then things went perfectly. Only tests needed at the time we’re done. All staff were courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Answered every question I had and made sure I understood. I have found my fur babies a new veterinarian staff (it’s take the whole crew) and and Animal Hospital. She is resting in her favorite chair, resting and improving.

Dr. Young and his team are great. They take the time to talk to you. I had been taking my cat Rambo to about vet and he was not getting any better. I took him to Dr. Young. It did blood work and put him on some medicine. The difference in Rambo now is like night and day. I strongly recommend them.

My sweet doggie B.B. had heartworms. We went to a vet and the 2nd time seeing her she recommended to put my dog to sleep. We came to Guntersville Animal Hospital just for a second opinion after we refused and gave her some meds for a few months. Dr Young said that she would be able to be treated for her heartworms. We began treatment the next day. Now Praise The Lord we are about 2 months out from treatment and she is doing wonderful. We definitely recommended this vet. Also all the staff is amazing. They are so friendly and always so good with my doggies.

Dr. Young and his staff have been our go to for veterinarian services since our arrival in Guntersville 15 months ago. From all of the normal vaccines and treatments for ticks and fleas to the spaying of our 2 year old Doberman and helping figure out ways to reduce the weight of our 3 year old Redbone Coonhound, the entire staff has been great. They took especially great care with the spaying because our Doberman has vWD (Von Willebrand disease), which makes her blood susceptible to not clotting.They have accommodated us on short notice, after hours, and all in a courteous and professional manner. Dr. Young is especially conscientious about explaining things in terms anyone can understand and taking time every time to do so. We’ve boarded our dogs there approximately 10 times and have always felt comfortable doing so. Before leaving your furry friends there for the first time they give a tour of the facility. I also want to thank that happy smiling face you’ll usually find at the front desk or on the phone. Jeannie can handle 3 phone calls, checking someone in, cashing someone out, and directing other members of the staff as to which critter is going where—and do it all with a smile and a happy voice.THANKS TO DR. YOUNG AND HIS ENTIRE STAFF FOR PROVIDING SUCH A GREAT FACILITY IN GUNTERSVILLE!

Each experience we’ve had at Guntersville Animal Hospital has been wonderful. The staff are super friendly and truly make you feel comfortable when it comes to your pets. Dr. Young is incredibly knowledgeable and informative and takes his role very seriously. We recently had an indecent with our dog which resulted in an emergency splenectomy. Dr. Young was straight forward about the procedure and recovery process. Long story short, he saved our dog! Each time we speak with him we feel more confident we’ve chosen the best vet in town to take care of our dog. His assistant, Melia, is wonderful. She truly cares about every patient and goes out of her way to make you and your pets feel comfortable. The suites at Guntersville Animal Hospital are great! They are very roomy with a window and tv! The facility is super clean. We truly appreciate the dedication from Dr. Young and his staff to take care of our dog!

Took my 1 year old puppy down here today as he was sick and Dr. young and his staff did an absolute outstanding job. I told them to call my current vet and get all of my dogs papers sent over that I would be using them from now on. I felt very welcomed with their staff this morning.
