The owners are the kindest couple . From the time you walk in to the time you check out , you are always greeted and they go out of their way to make sure you find what you need. They are happy to answer any questions or assist you with selecting meats. They will also order Gluten Free Buns whenever I need them. The store is clean , organized and very inviting. We are so blessed to have a business like Southern Market in our community !

I absolutely love this place every product I have bought from Southern market has cooked up to be the perfect meal the meat selection is fantastic the portions put together for simple easy cooking is phenomenal I love this place if you haven't had the chance to go please do you would be missing out!!!!

They’re pretty pricey on some items. Enough so that I’ll drive 30 miles to another meat market and still save a significant amount of money. They do have quality food and prices are somewhat reasonable for certain items. The fact that they’re close and the employees are super nice is why I’m giving them 3 stars.

Love this store and all of the items offered. I have a great experience each time and always get good quality meats, vegetables, cheese, and grocery items I'm looking for. They are getting more and more food selections every week. I talked to the owner yesterday and he confirmed this with me. The prices of the frozen foods are reasonable too. They have more than frozen foods and are starting to get some essentials as wellThey are great new owners who really and truly care about their customers.

The best! It’s so hard to find crispitos and all the old lunch room favorites. So glad I can have a taste of nostalgia after shopping here. The store stays clean and organized and the staff is always nice and helpful

Nice store. Friendly personnel. Very good selection. Love their hash browns, corn on the cob. Prices are really good. The "Nature's Own" bread is priced under grocery store prices. Worth the trip to shop. Great meat.

I love Southern Markets. I love the jumbo eggs, the FRESH frozen veggies, all types of "fries" (white and sweet potato), chicken, fish, etc. Too many items to include here. Just visit and you will like it too!

Store is rather dated but the selection great, if not varied. Pricing is fair and sometimes very budget friendly. Staff is courteous and usually with smiles on their faces. There are times, however​, an item you purchased before may not be there next time. The inventory seems to flux. But, otherwise, great place.

Attention! If you are anywhere the Gardendale area and want quality meat GO TO SOUTHERN MARKET! They have fresh meat cut and ground themselves and it is by far much better quality than anything we have been able to find in the regular grocery stores in town. If they do not have what you are looking for ASK and they can get it. I am telling you, if you are about the quality and taste, you will not regret it!

Love that Southern Market carries so many local and Alabama-made products. They have the biggest Idaho potatoes that are perfect for baked potatoes as a whole meal! There large quantity-size packages of frozen foods make it convenient and keeps me from driving to Homewood to Sams! Keep it local, folks! And besides all this, the owners are friendly and helpful.

Southern Meats is a pleasure to shop in. They have fresh meat, and many sides that are frozen to compliment any meal. My daughter loved the school Pizza and we find the exact same pizza at Southern Meats. The prices are fabulous because the meat and side dishes taste so much better than anywhere else I can find locally. Highly recommended.
