The way these fish are kept is a disgrace. Conditions have just declined over the past year or so? This manager doesn't seem to know how the hell to care for fish- do NOT buy these- they're SICK! Look at how they keep these poor female bettas crowded together too. And they never have any feeder fish or feeder shrimp. Nasty nasty nasty. It smells RANCID in the store too. I wouldn't buy any animals from this place. Needs new management ASAP.

I have always had a good experience with the employees. Some are more knowledgeable and eager to help than others. I go pretty regularly for fish and aquarium supplies. They are a little more expensive, but for the convenience of not having to drive 20-25 miles away it’s worth it.

Love this place! Staff is so sweet and love that a Vet comes on certain days. Had my puppies claws clipper for the first time and they were so sweet to him.

If you come here stay clear of the store manager. She’s a red head named Tara I believe. I’ve come here multiple times to either bath my dog, get my dog toys, or food and treats. Not once has my encounter with her been pleasant. She constantly looks miserable and attempts to make everyone else there the same. I’ve over heard and seen multiple cases where she belittles or makes the customer feel dumb for asking questions which as the store manager she should be happy to help with. I’ve seen numerous comments of employees and customers complaining about her. How she still has her job is beyond me. Great place with great employees but the manager makes it no where near worth going.

Decent pet store with a huge assortment of supplies for your dog or cat. Not the best for reptile, amphibian or aquatic species. Plenty of accessories for your reptiles or fish but not much to choose from when wanting a common frog, turtle, gecko or fish. To sum it up, this is really a place to get dog or cat food as every customer was in line with pet food.

My 2 1/2 yo Chorkie, Khloe, and I just left and we 💖 this place. She needed a new collar and name tag. When we walked in, it was brimming with activity and lots of animal sounds. When I asked for help with collar selection, the woman took me right over and sized her up just right. No attitude whatsoever. I didn't feel like we were inconveniencing her. She toggled between helping us and ringing up other customers with perfect aplomb. What excellent customer service! The other young lady helped me with selecting vitamins and help me find that new Stella & Chewy's chicken recipe. I just can't say enough about today's experience. They were extremely helpful and hospitable. Khloe says thank you with a warm round of paws!

I would recommend this store highly for your pet needs. I have a couple of rabbits, dogs and feed a stray cat. It is so nice to get what you need at one place at good prices. The employees are always so helpful and kind. They have a great supply of quality pet foods and treats!

Called yesterday asking about the ferrets, lady told me she has one! Then in a second breath said sorry it's paid for.. we are holding it for the person who bought it! She wasn't friendly or nice. I do not recommend this store! Vestavia hills has amazing employees in a better store overall.

I purchased a guinea pig here last year (he was my 4th from this store, have never had issues with my first 3, they are all 3, 4, and 5 years old) and he passed away without warning on day 13. Their policy of having to BRING IN the deceased pet for a refund is absolutely insensitive and honestly horrific. I did bring sweet boy in his box and they didn't even open it, I asked if I could please take him home to bury him with love so he wouldn't be carelessly tossed in the trash and they did let me and refunded me fully (they promised me he would have been sent for a necropsy if I had surrendered him). ------------ I'm editing this review because the newest guinea I purchased died this morning, EIGHTEEN DAYS AFTER I GOT HIM eith no warning. I will NEVER be back to this store.

Great place for supplies & to bathe your doggo! $10 inc. shampoo, conditioner, towels & pet dryer. So worth it not to have to bend down! Super friendly & helpful staff, good selection of supplies!

I go to this pet store a lot. I have brought fish from here a lizard more fish. things for my dogs ,tanks for my lizard.. & the staff are very helpful. Unfortunately I came in to give my dog a bath for the first time at this location and the staff was so nice. But in the process of bathing my dog, another man came in and my dog was being a little to over excited . So I ask him to just give me a second to get my dog out of the bathing area.. he then told me if my dog bites him or his dog, he's going to shoot my dog... the staff help me to the register. And apologized for the man's behavior & told me this wasn't his first time being rude . I like this place. it's close to home, and bathing my dog was so much easier. but if I have to be threatened. Or fear for me & my dogs life I rather go some place else . Crazy world we live in.

The management in this place is disgraceful and not willing to accommodate. I have bought pet supplies here for years and two years in a row I’ve witnessed management be ill and disgruntled about assisting me in a pet purchase over housing the creature for an extra day or even a few hours, this is a pet store that is there job. I will never spend a dollar of my money there again I will drive across the city if I have to and I would advise all of you to do the same!

Washing my dog is so much easier where I don't have to bend over and end up with a hurt back and a bathroom to clean. Bath area was clean and dry, well stocked with towels and a couple of brushes. Person at register could have been a little nicer but it is what it is.

this place is awesome, everyone that works there is super helpful. I have a goldendoodle with super long hair and I bathed and dried her here for 11.00. they provide shampoo, towels and a great dryer. super satisfied

I really like this store. Knowledgeable staff, nice & clean, no obstruction in the isles & great selections. In this last visit, they were out of a specific item I needed. What I really appreciate is that the staff referred me to another chain company to get it. That's customer service! THIS store is my go-to. They've earned my loyalty as a customer.

I’m so tragically disappointed in this stores employee's and their care for these animals. The two cashier girls seemed to not care about the tower of kittens in wire cages against the pineapple cheek conure and finches. On the other side was a Quaker and parakeets also dangerously close to a tower of ferrets. All animals were so close together it was frightening. I literally put a single hand on the kitten and bird cages that showed that they are fingers apart- much less one curious kittens arm reach away for a 700$ bird that is also closely breathing the urine of its natural predators.. the cages were on rolling wheels yet the cashiers stood their ground and refused to give the animals mere inches for peace.. the finches seemed horrified. I hope these birds are adopted quickly or else they will reach a very ignorant demise. New store employees are desperately needed here. Heart breaking.
