Back Forty Beer Co seems to be on the fringe of downtown Gadsden, Al in what appears to be an old warehouse. It's a decently cool and trendy place with a sizable brewing operation. I stopped in for dinner and to try a local beer and my experience was positive. The coffee stout is made with a local coffee co cold brew, so that's pretty cool to see local companies support other locals. I also ordered the smoked reuben sandwich, and it was pretty good. I didn't taste much smoke, but that did not detract from the overall quality of the sandwich.The brewery has a nice outdoor setup with chairs, tables, and a stage for what I'm guessing is local music. It's a nice setting for a relaxing evening, I'm sure.

They have made some nice changes since I was last here 6 years ago. The deck/ patio is very nice along with the outside stage and cornhole area. The inside has an extra area for seating where you can view the beer vats and still be up at the bar or on seats. For the beers on tap, they seemed to have expand the selection and the food choices have become more pleasant as well.

This place was suggested to me by a local. I was impressed with the size of the place and seating options. The back has a large area with lots of seating/tables to include large picnic tables as well as smaller tables on the porch with rocking chairs and raise bar style seating. This is a great place to come with a large group or if you have young kids since they can run around in the big yard in the back.The beer selection is great. I enjoyed the Sour Bight, a fruited sour. I had the burger and was really happy with my choice. Sometimes breweries don’t hit the mark with their food but this one did! If I come back to the area I’d absolutely return.

Recently stopped here on a visit to Birmingham. Went on a Saturday night, football on the big screen, great ambiance and very cool building. Menu is pretty simple. We got the burger and pizza and both were great. Very much a younger crowd, but I fall into that category so I had a great time. Wish they had something like this in my hometown.

They have remodeled this entire area inside and out. Very nice place to have a beer and some food. Live music and several TV for football. Bama mosa, and trucks top are 2 of my favorite craft beers. Great brewery.

Great brew pub with a chill atmosphere! There's a screened front porch with socially distanced seating for 50+ people, a grand room and bar, and a small lounge in the back that has a nice view of the commercial grade fermenters. It was pretty easy to get roped into the Bob Ross videos on continuous play in the back lounge. One of their signature craft brews is the Freckled Belly IPA. The Devil's Staircase is popular but a bit light for my bitter-loving tastes. If you want strong but delightful, thumbs up to the House Double at 9.5%. They also offer a short menu - few BBQ sandwich was a tangy and sweet (slightly more Texas than AL style). A+ all around!

This is the best place I’ve ever been, been going here since I was born and I’ve made so many good memories and met loads of people that I can never forget. The staff is so nice, polite, and would NEVER. Do anything wrong (on purpose of course). Everyone here is absolutely an angel from heaven and god sent. If you ever visit here we have a wonderful kids area, football, soccer ball, volleyball, net ball, and many other things you can find. We encourage you to ask our bar tenders for chalk and draw your heart out. Whether it’s absolutely trash or Mona Lisa art we don’t care.As far as food and drink, not old enough to drink but I can imagine if you like craft beer you’re in for a treat, for my teens & kids we have Shirley Temples and any lemonade you can think of, as well as a lot of sodas. We also have burgers, nachos, and other good food.For things todo while you’re here, most days we have music, Tuesdays we have jazz (go Arnold) and on Thursday we have trivia. Most Fridays we have a live band (probably Adam & Reagan or Craig McGriff) they’re always amazing and everyday at back forty is a blast. And 4th of July is a different animal.So, to rest my case, yeah, come check it out. Bring family, friends, or just yourself! It’ll be worth your while❤️

They have an awesome atmosphere to hang out with your friends. You can relax inside and watch the games that are on or hang out outside and listen to the live music. Kid friendly, they have a nice area outside with turf for the kids to play on while the adults enjoy their beer. The staff is excellent when it comes to customer satisfaction. You tell them what you drink and usually they can recommend you a beer that you will enjoy. One of the few breweries that serves food. I have never had a bad meal here and I think it's something more breweries would be smart to cash in on. The brew masters and the owners know what they are doing here.

Rats, rat droppings, roaches, moldy outdated food, freezers that don't freeze, workers loading food on a home bbq grill (which is located on the loading docks for all to see) while smoking cigarettes and playing on their phones and walking un covered food ,on the same cart they load the trash on, through an entire brewery whith forklifts and everything in production the gadsden location is just disgusting save your money.

Host facility for City of Champions Half Marathon. Staff was super accommodating from packet pick up to post race party. Hopefully race will stay here - terrific beer ( we mixed Peanut Butter Porter with Truck Stop 😇) and burgers are A++. Thank you Back 40 - we'll be back!

Really nice place, with delicious beer on Tap. The setting here is very rustic and chill. They have fin trivia on Thursdays where you win prizes. The also have a nice array of board and card games that you can play while eating.We also tried some of their food that was delicious. They cook it in-house, instead of having to order from a parked food truck.I also tried their moonshine Margarita cocktail that was also yummy. I can tell they use nothing but fresh ingredients for their Margarita mix..not some cheap (Mr. Ts) that has all these preservatives..everything listed bit actual lime juice.***Also I want to give a shot out to Kenni Rae.. She provided us with beyond outstanding service!! She is extremely nice and walks over and greets everyone at the brewery. She makes you feel at home..very welcoming!**

World class beer but local for me. They are constantly improving their space with a great outdoor hangout spot, a very nice deck, and indoor space with large TVs. The beer is excellent and they frequently have something new to try. The food also quality with great burgers, wings, and other selections. They host events like trivia and live music all the time. There's always something going on. Highly recommend.

The beer was great as always, but the service and food are lacking. My husband and I have been coming to Back Forty for about 2 years, and love it so much we even went there for dinner and drinks the night we got engaged. However, the last 2 times we have been (in November and again today) our favorite meal, the freckle belly burger, has not been what it used to be- which is very disappointing because it was our favorite meal in Gadsden! And it seems that they don't have enough staff for the bar & serving food, too keep up with the pace.

This is such a unique place. The food they offer is delicious and the beer us top notch and local. There are some standard beers but seasonal ones as well. The location has indoor and outdoor areas and there is a small pavilion for music

The beer is really good and it's a nice place. Unfortunately like many breweries we have been to in Alabama it's too much like an unsupervised daycare with irresponsible parents. We just witnessed a parent loose there one year old for a few minutes. It's a bar don't bring small children!

My partner and I really enjoyed this brewery! After driving our travel trailer from Tennessee to Alabama, we were ready for a drink and some good food. Back Forty did not disappoint! I believe the woman who poured our beers and took our order was one of the owners, but not for sure. However, she was awesome! She recommended the perfect brews for my partner and I, as well as the perfect meal. We had the Korean Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Asian slaw and it was amazing. There was live music going on outside on the patio and the entire place was fun and welcoming. We recommend stopping here if you're ever traveling through Gadsden!

I've been to the one in Birmingham. This location here was not up to par. First off, the bartender didn't know what a hefeweizen was and gestured to the taps saying "this is what we have". Secondly, it took 45 minutes for our food and it was...disappointing. Got the loaded nachos with smoked chicken. After eating the 10 chunks of sliced chicken, which were cold and probably came out of a microwave bag, the tray was mostly just dry corn chips. Should've just stayed with the chips and queso. The Freckle Belly burger sounded good, but was very sweet. The combo of whipped cream cheese and pepper jelly was almost too much. If it had jalapenos to balance I think it would be better.
