HIGHLY recommend!! They were fantastic to me. I adopted a all kitten, Sylvester. Unfortunately, he did not get on with my current animals, and I had to take him back. The staff did not make me feel guilty about the return, they understood completely.The facility is clean, well kept, and the animals all appear very happy and well taken care of. I strongly recommend SOS for your adoption needs.

My daughter and I found an approx. 8 month old juvenile cat in a drainage ditch at a construction sight. It was obviously dumped and super friendly. We brought it into our house to feed because it was very skinny. My bull mastiffs were not happy about the cat, so we took the cat to the shelter where the people were very friendly. It was a beautiful cat and I hope it found its forever home. ❤️

I stopped by here the other day to look for a playmate for my older female dog. The people that worked there were so nice and helpful ☺️ they were so kind & Courteous . They take good care of their animals . I haven't yet selected a new pet, but I'm still on the lookout! This SOS was very impressive, and I will be back as they get more fur babies in!! Thank you all for the care & love ❤️ you give to these sweet animals!!🐶🐈🐱🐕

My family visits here to volunteer sometimes and the staff are incredibly kind in how they treat the animals. While we haven't adopted any pets from this shelter, their rates are fair for the care they give the animals and they don't pressure you into anything. Additionally, they have a lot of great tips and advice for current pet owners. If you are able, check with the staff to see if they will accept any donations of dog or cat food. Also, if you are looking for a pokemon doggo, Snorlax is looking for a forever home!

This is the best place I have ever been too to get a dog. The staff is loving and caring people for there animals. I was more than impressed with the service. I love my new dog and she is the a sweetheart and was well taken care of by SOS before I adopted her. Thank you very much for loving and caring for these pets.

My husband and I had a pretty positive experience at the shelter. Our first time there a staff member walked us through and introduced us to every animal making sure that we knew all the dogs quirks. They were honest about every dog and even said they were not like car salesman. They wanted to be sure that potential adopters would know what they're getting themselves into. We were interested in two dogs and brought our dog the next day for a meet and greet. The staff was there to help us and made us feel comfortable with the whole process. The actual adoption was very easy. My only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that the dogs are outside at all times some of them only have small igloos as protection from the weather.

Dogs are well taken care of. No kill shelter is a bonus. Pretty easy adoption process. A plus would of been a dog bath before adoption. A working phone number would be great.

The folks here are really nice. Most are volunteers from what I gather, so that's awesome considering the level of care these critters get! We stop in semi regularly to love on the kitties. I highly recommend spending some free time with these sweet animals, even if you can't adopt one.

This is the best small shelter I have seen to date.The cat areas are super clean with the cats roaming free, a lot of climbers, scratching pads, and toys for them.However these people can't continue to care for animals without your help. Be sure to donate some food, a toy, or money if you can.

Great and friendly staff. This is where we found our fur-ever home dog. We found Sandy, and she's a Redbone Coonhound Lab mix. We had her now for 3 years.

I was able to volunteer here for a couple months and have never worked with a more compassionate group of ladies. Just in the short time I was there I got to see the amazing things this group does to save and care for the animals as well as help other community members that are trying to do the same. They work hard to care for the dogs and cats and to make sure they go to homes that are actually a good fit.

Great shelter if you're looking to adopt a pet!! You can tell they truly care for their animals! Lots of different dogs and cats to choose from. It's always better to adopt than shop! If you're looking for a new fur family member, remember to check out the older animals as well! Most are super sweet and just want a good family!

These people run such a great shelter...we have never adopted from them, but we visit every three months to bring donations and see who is available. It is clean every time...once, they had a storm rolling in so one of their dogs was in the office because she is terrified of storms...such fantastic care even to individuals. The cat rooms are set up brilliantly. We will continue to support and enjoy this shelter and maybe someday, one will return home with us too.

SOS, What a wonderful place to adopt a pet. Our Samantha is the most loveable dog. She sat in the shelter for 3.5 years waiting patiently for someone to love her.The staff at SOS ARE GREAT !!!!!! They love the animals and keep them healthy. Our girl got a clean bill of health. I want to thank all of you for your help in choosing the perfect family pet.

I would love to say great things about this shelter but I am afraid I am here to tell the truth. As far as the shelter itself, good. Dogs and cats do not go without and they are constantly looking to promote donors and save animals at kill shelters.Now I have to talk about the two stars I am giving, I am sad to do this. Me and my boyfriend were looking to adopt one dog and was told that we could put him on a hold until we could obtain the adoption fee, which takes care of all the vetting. The amount was not terrible but would have to wait until the next paycheck. We went to visit today, the day before adoption and we were told that there was no dog with that name! I was confused? Turns out they let someone else adopt the dog and did not communicate to the other workers that our pup was on hold!!! I was very disappointed, there were even Facebook conversations confirming the hold.Before leaving, I wanted to take a look at the kitties. So I went in the kitten room and stayed for about two minutes, refraining from touching them as they looked sick. When I left the room some lady yelled at me as to why I shouldn’t be in there and told me that the door should have been locked. It was not locked and I left at that moment feeling uncomfortable and unwanted. I have loved this shelter for a long time and hate to leave such a bad review.

SOS is a great no kill shelter!!!! Please donate to help. They work on public support. Always in need of cleaning supplies and other pet needs. If you are out shopping please grab an extra bottle of bleach or detergents. Maybe a few cans of wet kitten or puppy food. It doesn't matter the brand or cost. They are not picky, just grateful. Do not forget to visit their pets ready for adoption. If only I could give them all a forever home 🏡😪💞

I went to adopt a dog when they were doing their little adopt a pet thing in Dothan, I called them and told them I was interested in adopting the dog and was bringing my dog (who I adopted from the SPCA) so they can have a meet and greet before we signed all the papers. When I showed up, another lady told me some other guy was interested in the dog. I was confused because I told them I wanted him. The lady I talked to via phone came and told me I had to complete all the paperwork for him, so I did. When I gave her the papers back, she said she would have to do a home visit and check my vet references to make sure the dog I already have was up to date on his shots. I was confused because I had already seen people coming in and out of the store adopting their dogs. I said oh okay and she said she'd give me a call by the end of the week, so I said okay thank you and left. After getting back home, I look on Facebook and I see the dog I filled out the papers for was adopted by someone else!! Did that person get a home visit? Why is it I needed one to adopt a shelter dog and give them a happy life and they didn't? I was super disappointed and have decided that sadly, I won't do business with S.O.S.2 weeks ago, I went to an animal shelter and adopted a beautiful pit. My 2 shelter pups are happy, healthy, and have a great life.

I can't get too upset about an animal shelter. However, this place is a bit run down, very cramped, and smells awful. They take donations. I have not rescued a pet from this facility, so not sure how expensive they are or what all comes with the rescue (shots, etc.).
