You can not go back and see the dogs anymore. They bring the dogs 1 at a time out to meet you. You can go back and look at the kitten and cats. The place is clean and well taken care of. They are looking for volunteers if anyone is interested.

Great people here doing amazing work. Got in to see the kittens almost right at closing. 2 weeks later we're back to pick up a tiny little foster kitten, with notes about the option to adopt later (ha!). Got a schedule of when she'd have to come back for shots and spay. A couple months and a successfully treated eye infection later tiny Nova is here to stay. Really appreciate a quality shelter in the area. Everyone was helpful and seemed to really care. Check them out when you can!

I was going to adopt a couple cats, but that application process is daunting, intrusive, and demanding. The part where they say they can come and take back "their" animal if they find something they don't like is a deal killer, as well as demands about vet visits.I'll go to a breeder or pet shop before I put myself through all that and make such concessions, especially when it won't even be my pet since they can take it back whenever.

Truly great people. They love the animals and make the adoption process simple. Even if you aren’t in the market for a pet I would highly recommend donating food or supplies because this shelter really goes above and beyond

Met a wonderful dog (Mickey) we loved and would have been a great fit for the home and family. Staff was very kind and accommodating. Filled out the paperwork but we were denied because we do not have a fenced in back yard. We did mention in person that we did not have a fenced in back yard but nobody said a thing and sat by as we filled out all the pages of paperwork. Apparently dog runs, leash walks, and fenced in park areas will not suffice. It’s a shame that their animals who have the potential for a good home are denied for something like this. The woman who delivered the denial news over the phone was direct and to the point. Sorry Mickey….hope you find an Amazing home you deserve buddy.

Friendly Staff and very helpful. The animals are obviously well cared for and the facility is clean. Adoption is a smooth process as long as you and the animal are a good fit. We got Cane and he's been wonderful.

Been calling for days to come get a starving stray that showed up. Call the police NOT 911. The police will have animal control come get animals. The Wiregrass Humane Society needs to leave a message on their phone the steps to help lost animals.

Found kittens at work. They took them in. I could not care for them at the time. Since then my cat got out. He was not there, but they do check for microchips. I looked around anyway. Clean facility.

Wonderful people doing great things for abandoned animals. As far as the smell noted by another poster below, she failed to mention that the Humane Society and pound sit beside each other, and they sit beside one of the Dothan waste water treatment plants, which smells bad due to what they treat. Dogs howl and bark, they get excited, if she was a dog owner she would know that. I find this facility to be extremely caring and clean. I know several people who have adopted from them and I go there often. Please adopt instead of buying.

I attempted to go by last week- there are signs of the main road from Dothan but after the left turn, there are no signs to direct you to the facility- wondered about that. Surely the shelter would make every attempt to direct the public to the facility to possibly adopt a pet. The shelter is completely isolated - none one ever know it was there. I finally found it. I opened my car door and the first thing was the horrific smell. I was shocked. I imagined a nice, clean environment- the smell was overwhelming . As I got out of the car, all I could hear were dogs howling in distress- it was awful. I walked inside- the horrific smell inside too. The workers were rude and less than helpful. They acted like I was bothering them for even showing up. I was there to donate items- they pointed toward a wall- just put it there. No thank you, nothing- didn’t even acknowledge me. Walked out- drove to the animal shelter- the same thing- asked if people could volunteer- they said no. The dogs were howling- the place stunk, and I wondered, this place is so isolated, no one would ever know how these people are treating these animals that didn’t ask to be there- broke my heart- i walked to my car- looked at all the big dogs outside in this heat in cages next to woods- mosquitoes- rats- who knows- obviously this facility is not being monitored - thought I was doing a good thing donating- but left devastated!!!

The staff was exceptionally caring and professional. They made sure we were a great fit with our new little girl and have checked on us a week later to make sure everything was still flowing smoothly. The shelter was clean and odor free, they really care and it shows.

The staff seemed to be more interested in hearing themselves talk versus explaining to the customer what kind of dogs they had for adoption. There was a Min Pin there that I liked but they wouldn't let me have any interaction with him although he wasn't aggressive according to them. I filled out an application but haven't heard a word and it's been about a week. You would think they would be be proactive considering the dogs with no homes and be eager to help place a pet with a loving home. Was very disappointed.

The staff here are really kind. My husband and I visited a while back in search of a second dog and while we didn't end up adopting that day we plan to come back again in the future. The young man that was at the reception showed us around and talked about each dog available for adoption. It's great that the staff is so knowledgeable about the animals there. We even got to take a dog we were interested in out and for a walk around the property which was nice. We had a great experience and would definitely recommend people in search of a pet to come check the place out!

Covids still an inconvenience in mid- 2022! It's by appointment only, you must wear a mask, & the signs say what is available is on the website. They had about 20+ cats online & literally 5 dogs. Can't say much else, as I didn't get beyond all the signs I just stated above. But if their website is up to date then at least that's a plus to easily look up & see what is available.

These people shouldn't get a penny of tax payer money. They can't take an animal because you live in Houston Co but they are in Houston CO. They say they will pick up the animals and call ahead but they don't so don't have time to round them up and leave half because they are in a hurry

Very clean, animals seem to be happy, good staff. Very strict adoption process. Takes some time, but if you really want to adopt you will be willing to follow through. This is to protect the fur babies future!We have been approved!!! Yeah!!!! Going today to pickup our new family member. Beautiful white kitty to pair with the first fur baby we adopted.My parents are overjoyed. Me too.😁Please consider adoption if a new fur baby is in your future. Well worth the effort ❣️

LOVE this place!! The manager has gone above and beyond making sure I am comfortable trusting him to find the perfect home for a sweet pup we rescued and were not able to keep. He is spoiled rotten! I've enjoyed spending time up here and look forward to many more visits ☺ they have some awesome babies ready for their forever homes!!
