I am going to give them four stars because they always have the freshest sacks of oysters in Dothan. But I'm not sure I could eat in the restaurant area it is pretty gross. I know it is a fish market but it needs a good scrubbing.

Best Chili Dogs you ever sank a tooth into . Also Really Really Fresh & good fish ,Shrimp,Oysters . You buy & cook or they will clean & cook for you either way you can not go wrong here TRUTH Winner Winner Chicken Dinner lol 😉 😆. Barrentines has been Shucking & jiving for many Decades in our community 😄Do yourself a favor go by & Chew on something your stomach & these folks will thank you !!!!

Yes,it smells like a fish house because it’s a fish market. Barrentine is staple! I always have a dozen oysters,a chili dog all the way(the chili is not red based nor slightly sweet),with a grapico soda. Sometimes,if I don’t feel like venturing to Hunts,I’ll get a fried seafood plate with some sort of fish,fries,slaw,and a cold beer. If you’re into aesthetics,barrentine is not a cute establishment. However,I love this place!

The place have got worse it was filthy. Nasty floors was filthy the counter behind the counter coat machine don’t know what happened to this place I guess the food may be still good just too nasty for me to eat there I was raised if your bathroom your floors, your wall is dirty your food is dirty as well. No thanks. Smh

If U can get by the thought of a red hot dog topped with ground beef, sold at a fish market, U may enjoy a Barrentine Hot Dog. My hubby & daughter will drive miles out of the way on our trips thru Dothan just to eat 2 or 3 of them. What I enjoy are the laughs the rest of the Family gets watching them savor each & every bite & talking about it on every visit. As for the fish, I hear it's fabulous too.

Every time I come home I got to have those hot dogs but you gotta eat them right away. Not good warmed up. The oysters in the cup is convenient just watch the grit from the shells. Otherwise delicious!

Went for hot dogs, customer slamming three down on counter and leaving should have been my clue to leave, I ordered anyways took seven home, which is right around the corner, the weiners were not cooked and hard like when you eat a cold one out of the pack as a kid, think she didn't drain water off them when put on my buns they were completely soggy and falling apart, the chili was unsalted and dry individual little balls of meat,, after a bite of a few just threw it all in the trash. I will NEVER go to this place again, 0 stars,,,,, on side note fresh seafood doesn't smell fishy, this place smells like ten week old dead oysters and fish when you walk in, I would NOT risk eating fish here!!!

Went in to get some raw fish. They had a wonderful selection of mullet, cat, bream, swai, talopia, oysters and shrimp. I was really impressed. The fish was fresh as we could tell after we got home and cooked the product. We will definitely return because we love fish. We moved here 2 years ago and just found this fish house restaurant and oyster bar.

As always the food is delicious. Our family's favorites are the shrimp, catfish, and oyster plates. Only thing i think they could improve on is table manner. Just to check in on the customer and make sure the tables have the essentials like condiments and napkins. Again, awesome food and pricing.

For me Barrentine is a great little place to buy fresh fish, oysters, shrimp and chili dogs. They have so many varieties of fish. And they are so close to my community, only about a mile. Despite the pandemic they continue to serve the public. I'm so glad of that. Fish fried, broiled, baked or grilled is so healthy and delicious.

Best oysters in town!!!The absolute best chilli dog in " Dixie" !! I was Born there in the heart ❤️. The Heart of Dixie is in Dothan Alabama.About ten blocks south of Barrentine's Fish Market. My husband absolutely loves their oysters on a half shell, but not me. I don't eat those yucky things, so I eat their awesome chili dogs, shrimp, or catfish. They also have a nice little seafood market in there.

when i say NO ONIONS on my hot dog that is what i mean, they use the same spoon for chili n the onions and onions get stuck on the spoon ( ladle ) n get in my hot dog. I HATE THIS, if i bite or taste a onion i throw the whole damn hot dog away, I HATE THEM!!!! I tell them everytime to make sure no onions get in my chili but it does no good, I'll go to Ann's from now on, barrentines has gone downhill in a hurry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when Keith or Debbie made the dogs i didn't have this problem but the crew now doesn't care and are arrogant n rude as hell, they act as if they don't care bout their customers n don't want to be there, WELL GET ANOTHER JOB, customers pay ur salary, i could go on n on this place is just HORRIBLE now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We picked up oysters here and the young guy in the back that washes them and loads them for you was very friendly he made the experience very good and he thanked us for our business this young man needs to be recognized for sure I did not get his name but he was a younger guy!

I was recommended barrentines for their chili dogs, being a fan of chili dogs I was looking forward to my visit for lunch. however I was sorely disappointed in what I received. two mediocre hotdogs with plain ground beef on top, last I checked unseasoned beef did not qualify as chili, and not only that but I wasn't even given a plate to eat off of. my dogs in their wrappers were simply put on the table in front of me, I also did not get my fries until I had long finished my dogs, I realize this place is a fish market but I also witnessed a man behind the counter shucking oysters that had a lit cigarette in his mouth and watched as not once but twice ashes fell into the oysters he was preparing, that he simply brushed off. now I'm no ninny or whiner , but I won't be going back to barrentines again
