Great new spot in dauphin island. Great ambiance! We have been coming to DI for 7 years and have been wanting a spot like this. Something a little more classy and clean and fresh than the other spots the island has to offer. The bartenders were great and offered us suggestions of places to try in the area. The margaritas were awesome…. We craved them the rest of our trip. We didn’t try the food but the menu looked great and a huge step up from other options on the island…. Like thoughtful and well crafted food options. Definitely more of an adult atmosphere, I wouldn’t bring your kiddos here…it’s not that kind of vibe. The wine shop next store was very well stocked.Kid-friendliness: Not especially kid friendly.

We came here with our dog and sat on the deck. The cheeseboard was delicious, the wine was tasty, and the view was beautiful. They brought our dog water before they even took our order. Great outing!Vegetarian options: They have good vegetarian options as long as you eat cheese. They were very accommodating when we asked to have the meat separate from the rest of the cheese board

New place on Dauphin Island. Indoor and outdoor seating. Meat and cheese boards, soup, sandwiches. Nice atmosphere. You order at register and they bring it to you. Wine and alcoholic drinks are pricey. They keep your credit card until you check out.We had soup, salad and deep fried kettle chips.Nice change of pace from seafood on the island.Wine store attached.Parking: Not a lot of tables inside but also tables outside.

Very nice selection of beer, wine and cocktails. The two ladies behind the bar were attentive, however, it was gross to see them eating chips and nuts behind the bar, and then making drinks and touching limes to put in a corona with the same fingers that were just in their mouths eating nuts. She may as well have licked the bottles? No phones and no eating or snacking behind the bar.

This was definitely a cool little wine bar. You have to order at the bar and can sit wherever you want, we decided to go outside because it was quieter. Highly recommended your on the island and are looking for a drink and a casual atmosphere to kick back and chat with friends.Parking: Go to the side of the back of the building to get the best parking.

Drinks were nice, service was awful. Seat yourself, but ordering 4 drinks for a group is “so many” according to the server, and there was a lot of confusion around where we were sitting, who was drinking, and this whole business model could be re-evaluated. Just rude and sloppy service.Deviled eggs were ungodly, and just SO salty. I’m not sure how deviled eggs end up that wrong, but dear god, unless you want to feel like you licked a salt lamp, don’t order them.

Very pleasantly surprised to have a place such as this on the island. Have been coming to DI annually for much of my life and The Carriage is a welcomed addition. Their wine selection is good enough that I don't need to travel with wine. Their cheese selection is quite nice as well. Their menu was diverse and the food flavorful. The mignonette served with the raw oysters was divine. Going back tomorrow for the Shrimp and lobster bisque. They rotate their soups throughout the week, which merits a second visit. I read other reviews that dinged them on the service. Various people tending to you and having to visit the bar sometimes to order. I have decades of experience in food service and I actually liked this aspect. We never lacked service and everyone working there cares for everyone dining there. It felt like a homey aspect given an elevated menu and space. You're on the island still but the flavors are much more sophisticated than the other options. Fried shrimp, fish and fries have their place on vacation here but The Carriage offers a delightful difference. Coming from Nashville, the prices are on par if not cheaper than back home. We'll be back tomorrow and I look forward to coming back in a year.

Regarding menu and interior design, this is the most elevated small plate and bar establishment I’ve experienced since living on the Gulf Coast for two years. That being said, there is beyond a lot of room for improvement. We had to order at the bar Instead of having our order taken at the table.Wait staff was vaping in plain sight and didn’t seem to wash hands before retrieving food from the kitchen to bring to customers based on how fast that happened. All of our food was brought out together, instead of separating it into appetizers and mains.Once the food was brought to the table, it was almost 20 minutes before wait staff came back to check on food quality and to see if we needed anything else to drink.Half of the food was way too salty. The bar mix was tasty $4 for a tiny ramekin was ridiculously expensive. The onion dip with gluten-free pita was tasty. Wait staff failed to bring small plates to serve and share. The jalapeño pimento cheese was extremely salty and otherwise bland; certainly not spicy. The tortillas with my husband’s tacos did not seem to have been heated. The taco filling temperature was not hot or even sort of warm. The cilantro or dill sauce on the tacos was so salty as to be inedible. The cheddar cheese on the tacos didn’t seem to go with any of the rest of what it was assembled with. The honey, lemon dressing on the red white and blue salad was refreshing once I tossed it by hand in the plate myself. When the salad came to the table, the arugula, berries and feta on the plate were fresh yet completely dry as all the dressing was at the bottom of the plate. The most offensive/hilarious part of this whole experience was that my husband wanted a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. As none were sold by the glass, he went to the wine market which is under the same ownership and roof as the restaurant to buy a bottle priced at $17. He asked if he could have it, chilled and served at the table. He was told that he could for a $20 corkage fee. Y’all, corkage fees are for when bottles are brought from outside of an establishment. We won’t be back until this place’s processes and overall quality mature.

The food is soooo underwhelming. The cost of the food does not compare to the product you receive. The menu sounds incredible, but you literally receive a bag of potato chips with some sprinkle cheese on top as an app…no joke. The sandwiches are their main product, and they have no substance on them. The orzo pasta was probably 3-5 days old.And this is not just a one time visit miss happening. We have tried the food several different times on different occasions and this has been consistent.I will say the drinks are AMAZING and totally worth it.Please! I’m begging you to improve the food quality. I am an island native, and we need good food! This is so disappointing!

Nice, relaxed and great outdoor seating. Must try the Adult Grilled Cheese. Also the Pimento Jalepeno cheese appetizer..YUM!Vegetarian options: They had non-meat things.Wheelchair accessibility: Long ramps due to the whole raised structure. Ramps appeared ADA compliant with breaks/flat stopping areas.

We ended up here because we tried Islanders but they were not seating customers at 2:00 in the afternoon.Strange concept where you kind of have a server but you kind of don't. After hunting a paper menu or using the QR code at the table you choose you then have to get up and go to the bar to order the food. Your meal is delivered and someone (not always the same person) might swing by and see if you need anything. The food was good but for $13-$15 a plate I hoped for more than a small snack.I had the Adult Grill Cheese panini and it was delicious. It was the one item that was close to being an actual meal. I should've chose a salad for the side instead of "chips" which was a sprinkle of original Lays. The rest if our group all got Mediterranean salad with Shrimp. Tasted great. Just wanted a bite or two more.

Really yummy and a great addition to the island. We got the Ruben sandwich, Mediterranean salad and the charcuterie frommage plate. We picked up and took it back to our hotel but waited on the covered deck for our order. The staff were SO kind. Professional, courteous, extremely helpful and really friendly.I think it’s priced high (hence 4 stars) for what you get. We paid nearly $70 for our meal which didn’t include alcohol - it’s beautiful inside, so fresh and classically modern. The deck seating was so comfortable and I wanted to take the deck chairs home with us!!I wish there was more stuff for kids on the lunch menu. Since the food was so fresh, not fried and lighter fare we were/are super excited about this option for us.We’ll definitely be back!

FABULOUS spot for both food and drinks with an incredible view! We had a wonderfully fresh and flavorful lunch today. There is nothing this elevated anywhere on the island. The bottle shop is full of so many incredible options. There is something for everyone! The staff and owners are incredibly kind and energetic as well. Highly recommend!

This restaurant and bar was a wonderful hidden gem. The drinks were delicious and the food was outstanding. The staff were all very friendly, and the outdoor patio was very nicely shaded with beautiful views of the ocean and bay. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a place to chill on your next visit to the island
