Dolce Vita!

Very affordable round trip to and from Dauphin Island. You can walk on, take a bike on or drive a vehicle on. There are two upper platforms to view from. If you are not in a car, you will be standing, but it's not a really long passage. It is nice and part of the total experience of the island.

Our first time on an ocean ferry. A fun experience with cool views. It takes about 30-35 min to cross and you may need to show up 30 min early. Total cost on a two way trip was 42$.

We drove our car onto the ferry. Got out and stood on the upper deck. Saw dolphins out in the distance. And went on the last trip of the day. The sun was starting to set which made for an amazing ride and photos. It felt like a sunset cruise. We had just missed the previous ferry, so we got out of the car ferry lane, where you wait to drive onto the ferry, and drove around the corner and checked out Ft. Pickens while we waited for the ferry to show up. Then drove back and got in the back of the line when we were finished looking around the fort. No one cared that we left for about 45 minutes. This was not only fun, but a great experience! And made for some awesome sunset photos. I usually get motion sickness on boats, but this was such a smooth ride, I didn't need any Dramamine. I did perfectly fine without it. You can remain in your car, if you want to. But there are benches a top. Enjoy!

My husband and I rode the Mobile BayFerry to Dauphin Island, yesterday. It was so exciting! It was such a beautiful day and it was breezy, even though the sun was hot. It was still nice. There were several birds, lots of boats and a couple of ships heading out. It was very exciting to see a Dolphin on our way back, he was too fast for my camera, lol. We had so much fun!

Great ride and a great price ($6 per person for the day and $15 each way for a car) for a afternoon boat ride across the bay. The workers were very helpful and up beat. We did not take our car, there is plenty of free parking, we just wanted to ride there and back. Heard there's plenty to do but we did not have the time to check things out.

Great place to visit with your family, a peaceful place to just sit and chill or walk alone on the beach.

Such a small ride and so expensive to do so. Makes sense if you are going to make the trip to and from, but if only traveling over once, not worth it. I would rather drive.

The boys enjoyed the ferry ride. My dad wasn’t able to get out of his car to walk around and look around due to the cars being packed on so tightly. I wish there had been more room on the ferry to get out and look around. Like an upper deck to see more. Either way I think it’s worth it to take the ferry across the bay. They charge per vehicle and person in the vehicle. That wasn’t clear in the website to me.

Such a cool experience! Loading and unloading was smooth and quick. We were there on a weekday and arrived 45 min prior to departure and were next to the last car to fit. Almost missed it!! Get there early!

A unique experience. Takes about 60 minutes from the time you drive on until you drive off. If your in the front or along the side (we were right in front) you may get sprayed with water from the waves. Very smooth ride and not noisy once you get out. The staff will guide you on and off.

Was a pretty cool experience to ferry your vehicle across the water instead of driving out of the way to get to fort Morgan. Probably doesn't save much time from waiting to board and inboard. But still pretty cool to get out and check out the ocean as you are transported. The only thing they need is a bathroom. Having to sit and in a line of vehicles for half an hour and then travel across the ocean on a windy chilly day we were definitely holding it in lol.

Worth the detour! Access was easy to acquire. Staff was super helpful to guide you on. During the trip, you can get out and explore, which the kids loved! If your a oddball like me, you can check out the boat construction and chat with the crew to learn more about the operation of the ferry. Overall had a blast!

It was easy to get on and off the ferry. You’re able to get out and walk around. We took the 11:45 am ferry to DI and the 5 pm ferry back to FM. On the way back we seen dolphins. It is hot and no cover. Can’t have vehicles on, so make sure to bring a hat and some drinks. It was a great experience!

Loved our first time on a Ferry! Get there early for a spot in line (about an hour early to be safe) Their Facebook page keeps updates for departure times and if they're full or not so it best to keep on eye on that.

Fun experience!! Just make sure you call the number to confirm that the ferry is actually running. We drove out twice only to find it wasn't running. We didn't have to pass the sign at the beginning of Fort Morgan Rd, and we didn't know to call - since we are new to the area - but we know now! The third drive out was different...the first ferry wasn't running, and the second ferry of the day was up in the air. We walked around the fort and went back to check on the second ferry and it was a go!It's around $15 per vehicle and $6 per person for the trip over to Dauphin Island. It was a great experience and the staff was friendly.Just make sure you engage your parking brake once you park your vehicle on the ferry, and turn off your lights...there was a guy whose battery died on the 30 minute trip over to Dauphin.Take some quarters so you can look through the telescope type viewers :)

Nicely run ferry. No reservations so must arrive ahead of time to be in the line up. Polite and helpful employees. Can exit your vehicle to enjoy the scenery while crossing the bay.

My first drive on ferry experience! The boat was in great condition and it felt very safe. The staff gave me pointers on where to look for the dolphins, turned into a dolphin cruise for me. It was relaxing and had great views of wild life and off shores oil rigs.

Very cool experience! We took a Sunday drive from Pensacola to Mobile to see the tunnel and the battleship and ended up seeing signs for Dauphin Island and the ferry, with a little help from google.. we did a circle tour and it was great! Nice few hours enjoying the scenery and the 40 minute ferry ride was amazing. Seen a dolphin right near the dock when we were leaving!

If you need to go from Dauphin island to gulf Shores or orange Beach, just take the ferry, the amount of drive time you'll save and the relaxation of a 35 minute boat ride is so worth it.

They are very poor at communicating shut downs... I'm sure they're great at transporting you to where they go, but we were on a tight time schedule, and we pulled up, and they were closed... we asked the lady there and she said the last one leaves at 6:30... we pulled up a few minutes before 6:30. They were closed before then because of wind... don't gamble with your time if it's windy.

I enjoyed our ride on the ferry. We walked on rode over to Fort Morgan, stayed on and rode back. I mean it's the cheapest way to get on a boat and sightsee.

This was a neat experience! Our kids had fun and we were able to get a great view of Ft. Gaines as well as getting a pretty close look at a rig in the bay. It is a great adventure for first timers with kids!

The ferry was fun! The kids loved it as well. We all got out and hung out on the observation deck. There is a bathroom on board which is nice. A little on the pricey side but again, it was fun and the view was good.

Beautiful way to arrive in Gulf Shores if arriving from the West... better than driving Mobile traffic!Scenic trip takes about 40 minutes. On the Dauphin Island side there is a place to grab a snack or ice cream right at the ferry entrance! Yum!

On my way to magnolia float Spa over in Bay Minette I opted to take the ferry for my bay crossing. Having been a gulf coast native my entire life some 48 plus years I've never ever once taking the ferry. So I was looking quite forward to the experience and I must say it did not disappoint at all. It was very enjoyable being able to sit in the car open up the sunroof floating across Mobile Bay and joining the rocking of ferry listening to my music oh standing up in my seat and taking pictures out of the sunroof it was definitely the most stress-free Bay crossing I have ever had. And it was well worth it. Having to drive across the bayway can be a nightmare as many of you may know I personally do not enjoy driving over the bayway at all. So in the future if I have the option of taking the ferry as opposed to driving I will definitely opt for the ferry.

This is something you should really do when you want a change from the shops and the beach. It takes less than an hour, and it takes you to Dolphin Island and from there you can go, well, wherever you want to, as long as it is north! Ha! We always come this way to go home, which is in Northwest Alabama.

Watch for dolphins!! We saw several. This was a fun, low stress adventure. I typically suffer severe motion sickness but found the ride smooth, except when a service boat came near us and caused some waves. We went up on the viewing deck and watched the ocean the whole time.
