If you were to look into a dictionary beside the word, pretend it's a word, mom and pop hardware store with exceptional customer service and support galore, you would see this as the word. I won't tell you my age now but when I was 19 through maybe 23 years old I worked in a store very similar to this. This store is like that but on steroids. They have plenty of support staff to help. You never have to wait in line to Check out, if you do it's no more than 30 to 90 seconds.I needed a key cut one time and had at least four people asked me for help.If you go in, you will have no less than 4 to 5 people asking you how your day is, if you need anything, how you are. These guys are exceptional at what they do. When I get older if they are in business this is what I plan on doing when I retire.Side note if they'd pay me what I work now I'd probably go there. What I'm trying to say is they are very customer focused.

Customer service was good. I went there for high quality lumber, and paid for high quality no doubt. But after picking through many boards just to find a few, I left with Lowes quality boards. My 1st trip to Browns for lumber will be my last trip.

Needed a bar for a chainsaw, so I looked up “Brown lumber building supply” which takes you to an ace hardware website. I order and paid for the bar and was given a confirmation # and told I could pick it up in store at Brown Lumber in Columbiana today. I get to the store, show the confirmation # and am told that they will not honor the sale bc it’s an Ace Hardware deal, not stihl. The worst part is they had the bar on the shelf but wanted $50 more than what I had paid online. I asked if they were an Ace Hardware and they said yes but they wouldn’t honor it and took me straight to the office and cancelled my order and told me sorry and that was it. See you later, we don’t care and we’re not interested in trying to keep you as a customer. Bye

I entered the store for the first time to purchase, what I believed was hard to find home siding. Upon entering, one of the front clerks seemed confused as to where to send me to get this siding, so then another customer said that he would take me where I needed to go within the store. After getting to the lumber area and seeing multiple people, whom I believe were employees in this area, I was never acknowledged. None seemed interested in helping me. The long-time customer, who explained that he was always in this store, seemed to know all the employees. This customer gave his items to be purchased to one of the female employees behind the cubicle to complete his sale, he said because there were long lines up front. This customer called over Brit and told Brit what I needed. After this Brit said they didn't have it, but he would take my number and order it and call me when it was available. Brit wrote my number on the piece of sample wood that I brought to the store. Brit asked if he could keep the sample and I said yes. Over a week past and I received no call from the Brit or this store. I called back to complain to management and was transferred to Brit. I explained my dissatisfaction with the poor customer service rendered me. Brit offered an apology.

I’m confused about the perfect ratings on service at this store. Yes, they do have a great inventory, but this store is over staffed! Often I see 3-4 employees standing around a counter, near the front of the store, in the paint section talking and yukking it up, sometimes very loud about personal things. Unprofessional. Too many times I’ve observed them ignoring customers as they enter the front door and walk right by the counter …. without one employee acknowledging the customer. Have to give a great shout out to the cashiers! They are professional, don’t waste time or engage in personal conversations.

This place has everything you need when it comes to home projects. I am truly amazed at the items I can find there and the prices are pretty competitive with the big box stores! Certainly the go-to home repair spot if you live or work in this area.

Friendly, helpful folks. New layout and some inventory additions was a pleasant surprise. Prices a tad higher than big box stores, but quality is usually better too, so worth it. And it's faster to shop at Brown's and get on with a job than wandering around the big box alternatives where help is usually hard to find.

I wish they had better hours. Excellent staff, very knowledgeable and attentive, experienced folks who are eager to answer questions and explain things. It is a pretty great selection of tools and hardware; their lumber yard is across the street, and they've got enough to supply the local builders (which they do). I'm pretty sure 80-90% of all the homes built in the surrounding areas were built with materials from Brown Lumber. The only downsides to speak of are the current owner (son of the original guy) really likes to change the layout of the interior so if you think that they're finally finished with all the construction and remodeling, they aren't in 6 months they'll be completely rearranging the entire store and I don't just mean moving products around like other stored I mean moving the registers and counters, building dressing rooms, moving the nuts and bolts across the building, etc. It's just a little annoying; the selection never really changes, much it's just constantly being remolded. That and the hours, ever been to a retail store with less than banker's hours, it's just not convenient if you work a regular 8-5, they're only open a few hours on Saturday and closed Sunday so you can bet Saturday morning they're very busy and during the week it's just a 8-5 (unless that's changed too).

Truly are far more helpful than the "bigger" stores, both in terms of information and even loading materials etc. Never have to "find someone to help you", they will just politely offer.On top of that, prices are competitive. Sometimes even cheaper and rarely too much more than the "bigger" stores.Also reason I say "bigger" in quotes, Brown Lumber has a huge lumberyard and warehouse, they may actually have more stock and space than some of the big names in the business.

Theses guys are a little pricey but not bad they are very very personal every time I have gone in there and had a question or trying to get paints that had no numbers on them they were always helpful like I said their price a little higher but not bad they deliver lumber they're very knowledgeable I like them cuz they're not too far from the form and if they can't get it they'll tell you where to get it so yeah they're very good I would recommend them highly recommend them

Very well organized store with amazing customer service! Most of the employees at this store have been working there for a very long time and are very knowledgeable! Every time i've been in here, i've been approached and asked if I needed help finding anything as soon as I walk in the door, which is a nice gesture. If you're looking for a great hometown home improvement store without having to drive very far away from Columbiana, I highly recommend this place!

They are very helpful. As soon as you walk inside someone speaks to you. If you need help that person will stay right with you until you have everything you need or until you no longer need help. I walk with a cane so that person stays with me all the way to my car.😊
