Death Of the Mao

2024-04

Me and my fiance went together to get a kitten. We went home with two beautiful kittens and were so happy. A few weeks go by and our one kitten passed. We were so saddend. Then a few months go by and we lost our other kitten due to FIP. Our hearts broke. We decided to get a new kitten to love but they put on us on the DO NOT ADOPT LIST!! This saddened us greatly. We just wanted a kitten to cherish but they slapped us in the face. Never are we coming here again.

Great place! We had a mixture border collie/ Australian collie mix the Mama came up stray. She was already pregnant. She had 6 puppies we lost the 2 boys at 8 days and 2 1/2 months. All 4 girls survived. We took them to The Blount County Adoption Center. Now I feel they have a chance at a good home

Amazing place with the best workers! Kayle Jackson is the sweetest and most caring person I've ever come across. Our nursing momma dog was picked up by the city and taken to this facility. As soon as I found out where she was I sent them a message on their Facebook page. Kayle responded almost immediately. She asked about us picking her up the next morning, because they were already closed for the evening. Because our puppies hadn't eaten all day, my husband wanted to get her ASAP. Kayle agreed to go ahead and meet us there that evening so we could pick her up and bring her home to her 8 babies. She definitely deserves a raise or a bonus or something! Because of her our girl came home safely!

My pet was lost and they had found her and checked for a chip which she had and called me right away told me I could come and get her so I would not have found her without the city of Oneonta picking her up and the shelter then ran her chip and the chip place up north somewhere called me and so did the shelter and she was fine thank God she was gone over 24 hours and I was afraid she might be hit by a car I always walk her on a leash and in 12 years I've never had her get away but I had been sick the night before and did not connect her choke chain properly to the leash and that caused the problem I turned around and she was gone I am both elderly and disabled and without both entities picking her up and notifying me I would have lost my dog

We were skeptical at first. It was the first time we had been without our girl. She couldn't walk for three days. But these people did amazing work with our Bella. She is back to normal and doing wonderful. Soo happy.

The main purpose of these kinds of facilities is to find homes for these babies. I had an email sent to me from “Pet Finders” with pics of a puppy. I tried to call Blount County animal shelter. No answer. I sent a message. Message not returned. I called back and left a voice mail with the dog’s id. Call not returned. No wonder shelters are overflowing with animals. Good Grief.

The staff was so friendly and they really love the animals and are passionate about helping you find the right pet for your family. The animals are well taken care of and loved until they find their forever home. They do their absolute best to get as much information about the pet for you (medical and behavioral backgrounds).

Best Pet Experience Ever!!!My oldest son had a phobia of dogs because when he was much younger, he had one that growled and snipped at his face (did not bite him, but at 3, it scared him). He has been skittish of dogs ever since. Our trip to the Animal Adoption Center was a surprise for our two boys. They have been wanting a dog, but we could not agree on what type to get, even though we knew it would be an inside dog. We wanted a dog that was not too big, did not shed a lot, did not bark at everything, chew/tear up everything, or jump/scratch everyone that it came in contact with. I know that is a tall order, and much of that can be accomplished with proper training. The first dog that we looked at was a German Shepherd puppy (my choice...I love them). It was a little too lively for my oldest son, and after being jumped on one time, he wanted nothing to do with it. He would not even go into the play pen with the puppy. Then we saw Minnie (now named Katie). She was a black and brown mixed breed, with some obvious Terrier in her. She was the most loving and docile dog I have ever met. My oldest son INSTANTLY fell in love with her, and my youngest son quickly took to her as well. She was so gentle with both of them, never jumped on them, barked/growled at them, or had any aggressive tendency. She was THE ONE.The adoption process was smooth and simple. The staff members were very professional, and the facility was extremely clean. It was obvious that the workers care about the animals, and they try to provide the best care and accommodations for them.As to Katie's demeanor, at only ~10 months old, she does not pee/poop in the house, she does not really bark or growl, she walks wonderfully on a leash, she learned the sit command in about 10 minutes, and has no problem sleeping in a crate. She has an easy-to-maintain coat, and does not shed very much. Our first meal with her present was Chick-Fil-A (drive-thru), and I wanted to test out her manners. We all sat on the floor with her, and despite the smell of food, she never once begged or tried to come steal a bite!Best dog ever! Phobia recovery commencing...

This organization exists primarily through the blood sweat and tears of volunteers. They work very hard to get the animals dropped of there donated to a good home after proper vaccinations and spaying/nuetering. They have helped the Sugarland Lake community immensly as we work to reduce our feral and stray population. They deserve all the volunteer help and donations they can get.

Come out and support your local shelters! The pricing for adoption is the lowest you'll find and includes spaying and vaccinations!! Finding a lovable new family member is the way to brighten your home and your life!

I made an appointment online days before I went to adopt a cat/kitten. I waited outside the locked gate for 30 minutes before my appointment for the gate to finally unlock and open at 11:00am. As soon as I walked in I spoke with the receptionist and told her that I had an appointment. They currently have NO ADOPTABLE CATS/KITTENS AVAILABLE! The receptionist was hateful and offered no explanation for why she would not allow me to adopt any felines. I went to Cullman Animal Shelter and adopted a cat instead. I will NEVER go back to Blount County Animal Shelter again.

We took our granddaughter to look at kittens. They were very kind.We had an appointment at 11:00and when we got there we went straight in. We looked at all the little kittens. Our granddaughter chose a little run and it was 8 weeks old. We went to front desk and done the paperwork and paid for it and on our way we went. If I was looking for animal to adopt I would definitely go there again. Thanks Cherry Worsham

This is a wonderful shelter! Staff is kind and supportive. Animals seem loved and well taken care of. Whole place is clean and organized. They let you just show up and take a dog for a walk or hold kittens, so you can really get a feel for the animals. It's great.

Looks like a very well managed shelter - pretty clean and organized, with an efficient adoption process. All potential adoptees had plenty of available water and food (maybe too much food), were clean, and were in spaces appropriate for age, species and breed. The puppy nursery was adorable.. Very impressed - we will look here first if we ever wish to add to our pack in the future.

Friendly staff. Clean environment. They had very few dogs available and nothing that suited us. But I take that as the shelter doing a good job with empty kennels. Sponsored the next adoption...pay it forward to make the next family happy.

Love my pet and everyone very friendly but they really shouldn't hold pets over an online application if someone in person is there willing to adopt a certain pet.

So I made an APPOINTMENT for a kitten just to arrive before MY APPOINTMENT TIME, and get told they allowed a customer who had a appointment before us take all the kittens! What was the point of the damn appointment then I drove far to get my daughter this kitten!! Most saddest/depressing/irritating ride home! That heart break on my daughter face was so infuriating!!! Y'all was very wrong and unprofessional for that!! BAD BUSINESS
