Truly can’t say enough about this bookstore and the people working there! My sister and I stopped by on a recent trip to Bham and were so grateful we found this place. Great selection of books and the employees helped us pick books for my 10yo and 12yo kids. Great options and wonderful recommendations. Loved it so very much!! It’s going to be a permanent stop on future trips!

Thank You Books is truly my favorite place in Birmingham. The shop itself is darling- a charming, snug hideaway from the Alabama heat. Welcoming and inclusive of people of all backgrounds (and a whole side room for kids), the owners and staff go out of their way to create true community. I’ve had illuminating conversations and made dear friends through their events and variety of book clubs. When they don’t have a book I’m in need of, they order promptly and keep me in the loop when it’s on the way and when it’s arrived. I find myself ordering books on their website so I’ll HAVE to go pick up in store and HAVE to browse the rest of the store. I’ve received impeccable recommendations when I don’t know what I’m looking for, and the sellers are incredible at reading the room and helping you/ pleasantly conversing with you vs. leaving you to your own mischief perusing the shelves (though I always choose to chat 😌). I love this place and these people. It is and always will be my book home.

The short review: Outside of my own home, Thank You Books is my favorite place in Birmingham.The longer story: Before Thank You Books opened, I didn't understand how it would fit into our community or why we needed another bookstore. I looked forward to it--I always look forward to bookstores!--but I didn't understand the vision.Then I stepped inside.From day one of the store's soft opening, its mission has been clear. Thank You Books welcomes people in, helps them find the literature that will speak to them (whoever they are!), and connects readers to one another. I've never experienced this sort of community cultivated by a retail establishment.The shelves are thoughtfully filled--with recent releases and best sellers, yes, but also with lesser-known titles from smaller presses. The staff is engaging and knowledgeable. I love few things like chatting with whoever is working, and I always walk away with something new--a new author, a new title, a new idea, a new friend. I've made new friends in other patrons, and I'm uplifted every time I attend an event or a book club.Thank You Books is a treasure. Before it opened, I didn't know what I was missing. Now, I can't imagine Birmingham without this special gem. It is the bookstore of my heart.

Thank You Books is my favorite bookshop in town. Friendly staff, a beautifully curated collection with hand-written recommendations hanging off all the shelves. Those hand-written recs are my favorite -- it's easy to wander around and feel inspired to pick up so many books I might never have found otherwise. Thank You Books is an absolute gem. It's definitely a must visit. They have all the big name best sellers you would want in a book store, but also some lesser known indie picks as well. I've gotten two jigsaw puzzles from them, and both have been fun. Aside from that, it's a beautiful space with a calming atmosphere.

My family and I can all find something great at Thank You! I’m admittedly not the highest-brow literary reader of fiction (Vampire smut, really) but the stationery items, comedy, and non-fiction are refreshingly well-rounded. There were even a few art and design books I enjoyed seeing on the shelves. If you’re someone who likes to give gifts of books- You’re at the right spot.

They’re amazing at spotting literary talent.It’s hard to imagine that there was a Birmingham without a Thank You Books just a few years ago. Amazing staff. What a precious bookstore! I'm so thankful for this bastion of knowledge and thought. I was sceptical as to how a small, independently-owned bookstore could make it in a world of free two day shipping and conglomeration, but these ladies have made it work! Young or old; from the classics to current best sellers, there's something here for the most battle-hardened bibliophile or, perhaps even a newly established one. They’re always great about ordering books I need for work as a therapist (and any odd niche requests that I might have for whatever my hyper focus is that week), and everyone who works there is so kind and welcoming. A nicely curated selection of books, many with hand written reviews and recommendation posted on the shelf. Classics are mixed in with just published books emphasizing the fact that literature doesn't age as poorly as action movies.
