We stopped by for a few Christmas gifts. They have a great selection. If you are going on an extended camping trip you can't miss stopping by this location. They have everything you will need. They also have a great selection of items for just a day trip or just some cool outfits for school.

Even though the prices were a little high at this store, I didn't mind because the service was Great. The young man who helped me find my sleeping bag and a few other items made my whole experience there worth it. He took the time to show me all the different products available, and shared great hiking experiences at the same time. He also shared a wonderful app with me to help me in my hiking adventures. Great store with Great Staff! Thanks for the wonderful service

Called prior about warranty on on cloud shoes. They said they would look at it which is fine, however, they need to be consistent with what they say in store. They were very judge-mental in store and said they would do the exchange and to go pick out the shoes I wanted. I bring them up and they said they can’t do it anymore because it was just wear and tear. However, my sister did the same thing with the same person and said hers was just normal wear and tear and they let her do the exchange. I am not mad at all that I did not get the exchange, I am more upset with how they handled it and the inconsistency with handling customers and products. It was a complete waste of time for me to look around in the store and come back to the counter with shoes, just for them to change their mind and say no. My sisters shoes were almost in the same condition as mine, and she got them. Again, not mad I did not get the exchange, I am more upset that I wasted my time in the store because they decided to change their minds and are not consistent with what products they allow to be exchanged on not.

Sam and Alex were great associates at Mountain High Outfitter in Mountain Brook, Alabama right off HWY280 next to the Whole Foods. Would recommend them for a promotion at their company.

I love this store! The staff are incredibly helpful and will work with you to make sure you find the best gear for you. In particular, the staff helped me so much with finding hiking boots. I think I went through the entire line of boots until I found the right pair. But the guys helping me were not about to let me leave with a pair that didn't fit well with my feet. I am super thankful they knew what they were looking for because I know nothing about hiking boots.

I had excellent service at this location. I was greeted by Brooke, upon entry. She helped me find exactly what I was looking for and even called another store to find the correct size.In shoes, Kadeem was awesome. He was knowledgeable and helped me find the exact pair of OC shoes, that my son was looking for. It was a pleasurable shopping experience. Store was well stocked and organized. I highly recommend!

I love shopping at Mountain High Outfitters! The store is easy to get to from anywhere by way of 280 or 459, and parking is right out front! The associates are great when I have questions but will also leave me alone if I'm just looking around. They've got everything we need for outdoor fun and clothing!

When I first went in there was a greeter at the door he was nice and pleasant. I walked in too the back of the store to look at some shoes for my daughter for Christmas it took a minute for someone to assist me, Finally a young lady comes up helps me with my selection it was quick and fast. Thanks for the swiftness of assistance . Thanks to the clerk BHenson for doing a great job, nice friendly and courteous. I would shop there again.

On 04/21/2019 at around 2:30 pm I visited this store. The employees at the front of the store were very friendly. We browsed the store. Then we went to look at shoes and that was a mistake. I have never encountered someone more unpleasant or rude at a retail store than the man working in the shoe area. He completely ignored me and catered to another family looking at shoes. I had to go out of my way to ask him for sizes to try on. It took him about 10 minutes to bring back the shoes from the back to try on. He came back with shoes for another customer, and as he walked by (he didn’t even stop to talk to me) he said that he didn’t have the color of shoe I wanted in my size. Then he walked away. He didn’t ask if I wanted another color or anything. I had to go ask him for a different color in my size. He gave them to me and didn’t even ask how they fit. The whole time I was trying them on he was just standing a few feet away looking around and doing nothing. He was just very rude. I decided I liked the shoes but I’m going to buy them from a different retail store. He did not deserve the commission from my purchase due to his rudeness.

Great place!! Whether your planning an expedition or just grabbing some of your favorite apparel, these guys have built my trust over the years.The worker's are always great, helpful, and know what they're talking about. You can tell they actually use many of the products due to their knowledge of the questions I ask them. I've been planning a trip to New Zealand lately, and they have really helped me be better equiped for the journey!

Great selection of stuff. I love the Birmingham stuff they have, like shirts and stickers. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They really seem to know their stuff too and aren't shy to say if they don't know as much about a certain product. Highly recommend, love this store!

Very rude, judgement, and pretentious staff. Nothing had a price on it and the employees seemed bigger when I asked the price of an item. Staff was very unfriendly and seemed to be bothered by my girlfriend and my presence. Cashier took a phone call on the store phone while checking us out instead of letting someone else take the call. It was just not a good experience. Will definitely stick to Alabama Outdoors for all of my outdoor and brand specific purchases.

Good selection of men's & women's apparel as well as some kid's clothing too. People complaining in their reviews about high prices need to understand that the prices this store charges are that particular brand's suggested MSRP, nothing Mountain High can do about that. Your gripe needs to be with the brand, not the retailer. Subscribe to their mailing list & they'll send you a catalog with various coupons that offer good discounts. My only complaint is special orders aren't eligible for said discounts.

I've stopped shopping at this store. Completely. I'd rather order online than be looked at and judged every single time I enter. The staff is rude and stares. The last time I visited the store I was looking for a specific brand of shoe and the guy I ended up asking gave me a very condescending no. I tried to continue to browse, looking for another brand I may like but he was hovering awkwardly and kept telling me they didn't have what I was looking for. No, I don't look like an outdoors man, but I don't smell or dress like a bum, and I have money and feet. In addition to that, the store is overly crowded with retail in the clothing area. You can barely walk through. I guess that's what they want as I never seem to see any other customers in there when I visit.If you enjoy being followed around a store like you are a criminal, this is definitely the place for you!!

I live about 2 hours from this location but happened to stumble upon it visiting my brother at UAB! Now every single time we go to Birmingham we stop by. I especially love it because they are dog friendly 😊 John Perry was SUPER helpful and took time to explain things to me when I was deciding on shoes (hokas are the best!). Definitely plan to stop by this location. You won’t be disappointed!

Great gear selection. Prices were reasonable. The gear rental manager took time to give us recommendations on climbing locations and a crash course in some how to's we had questions about. Staff was so friendly and so knowledgable.

Went this evening to find water shoes for my kids. The staff member that helped us was very helpful and friendly. He spent time showing my daughter how to work the chaco straps. He never list hs patience and was very willing to grab additional sizes. They made shoe shopping easy!

Very knowledgeable staff, nearly all are former Scouts, and they can discuss merits of different brands. One example is the arch placement in different boots. Some boot brands will just never fit because of the arch placement and my arch.On this trip, they were outfitting a Scout for an upcoming trip to Philmont. Several staff members and some customers enjoyed sharing memories.That is what you want in an outdoor store.

I love this place. The folks at this store are always super friendly and super helpful. You might even find a new spot to kayake if you dont mind chatting with them. I'd like to see this location carry a little more clearance stuff. Galleria usually has all the clearance but I don't always wanna go all the way out there.

I went into Alabama Outdoors (AO) today and was greeted with exceptional customer service, which resulted in me buying many family presents for Christmas. AO was not pushy but still welcoming.Recently I also went to visit the Mountain Brook, AL Mountain High Outfitters store. I was a greeted by a really obnoxious character who eventually introduced himself as Hunter. Maybe instead his name should have been Bummer. I typically like to walk around and explore products and will ask for help if needed. I do not mind an employee checking up on me, but this guy was relentless. He acted like a used car salesman whose lot was going out of business. I had an article of clothing I was going to buy only to return it because I was so turned off. He kept asking me if I needed a dressing room for something I did not need to try on.The other employees seemed a little wound up around this guy. In the past when I went into this store others were particularly nice. Before I left I saw Bummer yelling at one of the girls at the register only to notice that it seemed like she was about to cry. I thought his general tone around others in the store was high strung possibly causing stress to those around him.Upon leaving the shop I was sorry to go into Mountain High Outfitters and even worse, felt sorry for the employees there who had to work with this crazy personality.It was Bummer who unnerved me to the point where I will never return to this place of business as long as he works there.

These guys, of all the stores in the Birmingham area, really try to have the best gear and knowledge about what you need. I have special ordered multiple things from this store.. They are always helping in what you want and will work with you. Seems like they really try to cater to the avid outdoorsmen yet also keep up with the 'trendy' and fashionable culture of the preppy lifestyle.Overall great company, good knowledgeable people and the are willing to find the best fit in any area for your needs. I will conclude that they can not compete with an REI but they are a notch under them.

Upon entering the store was greeted with an enthusiastic "Hey Man!" and that was just about the extent of the sales person/consumer interaction. I stood in front of a certain brand of shoes holding a specific shoe for probably 5 minutes. After putting the shoe down I heard a "Hey man, if you need a size just holler at me" from a head popping out behind a rack about 20 feet behind me. No thanks bud. If you cannot come over to me, the consumer, and attempt to make a sale I will go home and order it online. This store is the shining example of why retail is dying. Not to mention the other 5-8 employees standing around doing "busy work." Guys, wake up and realize that the reason for your employment is to help customers and sell merchandise. Not move a Yolo board from the front wall to the back because it will look "dope" back there. Disappointing.

I’ve shopped at other locations before with pleasant experiences so I was really taken aback with the poor level of customer service I received at this location. From what I observed there was only 1 other customer in the store and 3-4 unoccupied employees and yet still no one seemed interested in helping. Just disappointing. I hope this is not the norm.
