So, I went into the store to quickly purchase some toiletries. You would not believe what I seen. I know all companies having a hard time hiring people. Though, it does not make any sense for a store to look in despair.I felt like I jumped back in time to 2019 when COVID was around. Due to all the empty shelves I saw.I believe I was fair with the (2) star rating. I did not take pictures of everything. Need to hire someone that really want to clean up that store and run the store how it is suppose to be ran. One thing a good working won't do is turn paying customers away at 945pm when they come to spend money. Very sad I'll go out of my way from now on before I go back to that store. It's very nasty when ur working can't keep a clean store and stock it. They will sale u something the wrong price and will tell u if u don't want it they will cancel ur order if u don't want to pay the price.

This place is so unorganized There's always carts and boxes in the Way and you can never find anything It's junkie They need to close the store for like 3 days to get all their inventory together and on the shelves Don't get me wrong this is not the first one I've visit it seems like 2 out of 3 is like that And it's not like they're gonna be missing money to close the stores down for 3 days to get their stuff together And I know the workers there be so frustrated because it's a cluster of things everywhere I love the store but I hate going in there because of that So please cooperate do something about it

Worst Dollar General I have been in . I went in 4 today looking for an item. Store # 4647, #21618, one I didnt buy anything so no store number then this one. It is tore up from the floor up. Shelves are empty so of it may be on the floor, in return carts or on freight carts waiting to be put out. But when you get to the front you will see why. One lady on the front but about 30 mins after I had been there 2 come in off there break or lunch. So this meant they felt they had enough coverage in the store to go on break at the same time leaving one person in the store. Then all tree up front. One could have started putting out returns or freight. I was on the self checkout and needed a void. The girl walk up and says to the other girl what am I helping with in place of asking me. The machine said customer needs assitance at the self checkouts she should have addressed me when she came up. I said I needed an item taken off . She finished and said there you go and walked off. No others words did she say to me.

Please close this location. I come here often and it’s miserably unorganized, nothing is ever stocked but there’s always large carts of Overstock and boxes everywhere!!!! the store is a mess the workers look depressed the lines are always long and move slow hands down one of the worst stores if not the top spot i had to give one star but it shouldn’t even have that one. ZERO STARS THIS PLACE IS TRAAAASH

Typical Dollar General. Location is pretty convenient with lots of parking. Seemed to be understaffed, but the people working were nice and helpful. Good place to get some items but not really stocked for an all out shopping trip. A good idea is to check their sales ads before you go, as they have some really good sales from time to time.

Would not even give it 1 if I had a choice. I have lived by this one for 3 years and I finally have had enough. I'll be going to another location. It is always a mess at this store. I worked retail and shipment and it does not have to look like this store does. The store was remodeled and I was so impressed it was perfect and less than six months later I cant even walk down aisles from all the carts of trash or shipment boxes.

This is the worst Dollar General in Birmingham. The store is dirty, unorganized, and shelves are empty. Always one employee there. The building inside and outside needs remodeling and updates.

The only thing that keeps me going back there is two empoyeees that are on the registers. I love them. They are so pleasant and funny. We talk about stuff that normally customer/employee wouldn't talk about. I am doing this review late but I actually bought the employees lunch or break snacks today (1/31/21) out of the store. I told her I got it. She couldn't believe it and very grateful fir my generousity! I show good customer service and kindness that I appreciate them! Theses 2 individuals get a 10 star with me, but the store us always messy and dirty. Coolers don't work half the time. That's why I gave it a 3 star.

I have to be honest I go to a lot of Dollar generals all over and unfortunately I usually only go to this one because it is close to my house. The store is a mess and unorganized. Every time I go in there it is cluttered so bad. The people that work there Don't act like they're too happy to be there. I have met a few that are nice and try to help. I can honestly say it would be nice if somebody straightened things up and organized them better.

Terrible location. The parking lot looks like it should have been repaved 20 years ago. The store itself looks rundown and outdated, inside and out. The shelves are always in disarray. The employees are all rude and unprofessional, except for one or two of them. I've had an employee have a full conversation on his cell phone, gossiping about something, while checking people out. The store next door plays extremely loud music with cursing that can be heard throughout Dollar General. This is an overall terrible location. Corporate should really clean things up.

Store is in total disarray with most products out of stock. Two cashiers working little told me to hold on when I was ready to check out for three minutes while they finished a personal conversation between the two of them. I actually had to speak up and asked to be checked out telling them I was in a hurry. See video.

This dollar General is well stocked. They have a great team of employees. The floor is always clean and so are the aisles. They have grocery and household items. The prices are reasonable enough to avoid a trip to Wal-Mart. Sometimes thelines are long but i suppose that happens everywhere.

I use DG a lot for household items and sometimes snacks. I love the digital coupons also. Typically the employees are friendly but I've noticed a pretty rapid turnover in the staff. Again, they are friendly and helpful most of the time.

Hard to find somethings because shelving had not been completed. Second time in Clay location. Several of the freezers were out of order. Both times the cashier's were especially nice. I assume Covid-19 is why ya'll are short handed there.Still like the concept of Dollar General.

This was the most disgusting store I have ever been in. I came in about 11am Saturday Sept. 26th 2020. The floors were absolutely filthy. Visible dirt, trash and merchandise on the floors. At least 10 huge carts of merchandise filled with merchandise to be stocked. So many carts that you could not maneuver around the store. I asked for the manager. The cashier said she walked outside. We both went to look for her but she couldn't be found. Everytime I go to this store I tell myself, "Just dont go back". Well, this was definitely my last trip to the Dollar General in Chalkville, Al.

I love dollar general they have so much to offer. It's my number 1 go to store. I like how they offer frozen food items now. It's always so clean inside and staff is friendly.

Even though the DG closest to me is smaller I go there because of how well the staff is. Their manager is always helpful(her name is Molly). Any of the staff members will actually walk with me if I'm looking for an item I can't find and they will help me find an alternative if they don't have what I need.

It’s a regular run-of-the-mill Dollar General. If you’ve ever been in a Dollar General you know what to expect here. The employees have always seem to be nice there and I usually can get out fairly quickly because they are doing their jobs

This store is always filthy and always seems understaffed. Some employees are very friendly, others are anything but. I consistently find that they’re out of a specific product that I need, and a lot of times when I do spot the product I need... after hunting longer than I should... it’s on a high shelf and out of reach. One prime example is cat litter, why would they put heavy cat litter on a high shelf above the heads of customers. Seems a big hazard to me.It’s also the only DG in the area that always has trashy handwritten notices all over the cashier area. Not sure why they’re the only store in the area that always has a “no cash back” sign up.The last big issue is employee cell phone use. This has GOT to change! There is almost nothing more rude than cashiers who during transactions are texting and facebooking.

This dollar general needs a complete re-do its horrible as soon as you enter the door. The hand baskets to carry your items in are filthy the clothes and shoes are never organized you never no the price of anything. The clearance items are never that its just random things thrown in a basket. Last but not least the employees are never friendly.

Cashiers are rude if they are not on their cell phone dont expect much from a dollar retail store..but 10 people waiting on one register 20 minutes later you get to be treated like you an inconvenience. Even to todays service standards like waiting on shift change at your local jail

I like my neighborhood d.g. store, but they seem to be so unorganized, they continuously have stock in the aisles on and off the carts, very cluttered . Alot of stock unmarked, not priced, just thrown up on the shelves. Employees walking around talking on their cell phones. Avoiding eye contact. I dont like whats happened to the d.g. store in the last several years. I wonder if the store/company has different owners, I see no pride in the store. Shape up Dollar General!

DG has been severely slacking lately. Every store in pinson clay area has been underwhelmingly sucked with anything and most aisles have been total disarray, plus the one on old Springville SMELLS because they have yet to fix all the bad freezers, so no frozen goods!

I can find household items for sale and hair products that I can use at a price I can afford to pay. The service was great. If you needed help finding anything. The store was clean and neat.

I love their prices! Yet, the staff is slow. Upper mgmt continues to remove items that sell and replace them with big name brand products. Ppl go to Dollar G to save money, not spend more. DUH!
