I had no choice but to turn my little furbaby in last month and I hope he found his forever home with someone cause if they put a sweet loving cat down do to them being overwhelmed with cats then they don’t need to do that kind of work and I haven’t even seen anything pictures up of him to be or get adopted so I hope and pray they didn’t put that precious baby down cause of lack of room for them poor souls and I’m not scare to post his pictures

I walked though the door and another dog was coming out so the place is so small so I was bringing my dog out the door so the lady and her dog come out and she ask will my dog hurt her dog I said she shouldn’t but something if she feel theating she might will but she didn’t do any thing to the dog didn’t bark or nothing but me and my dog walked in and she got called a breeder dog. And she only had puppies one time 3 years ago and the lady was rude saying where’s her puppies at and saying they couldn’t take her

The volunteers here work tirelessly to help the animals that get discarded like trash. Not only are they kind hearted and compassionate towards these poor broken souls, but are giving of themselves to a point of exhaustion. PLEASE ADOPT AND PROVIDE A LOVING HOME TO ONE OF THESE AMAZING ANIMALS. Rudest customer service I’ve ever experienced!! Tryna get a dog that was found in the middle of construction on Hsv Brownsferry by Buccee’s safe!! But lady was rude from the start. It was 12:57pm, their lunchtime. Their lunch ends at 1pm. They didn’t even wanna come to unlock the door for me and seen me at the door knocking. Told me it wasn’t okay to come at their lunchtime with 3 minutes remaining til it was over. Will NEVER be back again! Too much of a hassle to get a pup to safety! Tryna have good intentions but still come across rude people. It was a hinderance but it didn’t take much time at all to get the dog there.. took time out of our day to get the dog to safety but 3 mins of their time “wasn’t okay” .

Our little family was looking to adopt a dog. So I went online and filled out an application on a Friday. Made sure we didn’t have to have an appointment online and it didn’t say anything about having one so my daughter and I got up on Saturday morning and went to the shelter to look and see what we wanted to adopt. The lady there ask if I had an appointment I told her no it didn't say anything about having to have one online so figured it wouldn’t be a big deal to just come. She then ask if I filled out an application which I had but was told it hadn’t been approved yet. So ended up not letting us look or helping us out. It has now been 2 weeks and still no call on my application. All of these animals need loving homes but you all make it so terribly hard to adopt. I hope all those loving babies find families because we went and got one elsewhere.

My son and his family unfortunately had to give up their 2 dogs. That was SO HARD for them, but I think to have the courage to do something like that and hope they find kind and loving homes was better then just throwing them out of a car somewhere which I've heard of people doing. Then to take them to this shelter in their area to be treated the way they were was un called for!! It was wrong!! I understand that shelters are over crowded and millions of animals unfortunately are put down, but treating people like garbage is not how you should treat people who are GOOD PEOPLE and doing the hardest thing they ever HAD to do.

For a place that loves to advocate how many animals have been brought in, they sure make it impossible to adopt. It was like pulling teeth trying to adopt a specific dog that recently has been surrendered. I hope you at least don't kill the animals that aren't ever adopted.. thank you for giving me and my husband the worst experience getting another dog due to our personal fertility issues. I have worked for better shelters than this. These people are ruthless.

Lovely people to deal with. I have an application in at the moment to adopt Briar, once she gets more socialized. I had to put my two senior dogs down here within a month of each other, and they were all very compassionate.~

First thought was they were nice caring people. I noticed they seemed to be pushing the dog like they were trying to sell a car. We were there for him anyway but it just seemed unusual. We noticed several health issues they had checked and hopefully taken care of. The baby we adopted was sent home with kennel cough and ended up giving it to our other dog. The people there acted like they didn’t care and basically told me it was my fault for not vaccinating the dog I already had. But she wouldn’t have been exposed to that without their negligence. So now I am out 200 more dollars and left with a sour taste. Be aware of what you are getting into they don’t seem to have the dogs best interest at heart like I had thought they did

I visited here last Saturday..sad what these lil furbabies have gone thru but the staff there was Amazing!! Ladies in office were so helpful and very nice..the gentleman in back who cared for the lil doggies was so kind and seemed to care.. ..I recommend this facility..also they a bunch of cute adult and kittens there for Cat lovers❤️. Thank you for being caring to these lil furbabies ❤️

Compassion and understanding is just the beginning of how wonderful these people who are working together here are! They truly seem to give their whole lives to these animals and helping them to get better or find them the best home for that animal. They have an amazing thrift store that helps fund the shelter. They also have an Amazon list and they accept donations for the shelter! Their Facebook is updated daily and they always have new photos of their animal friends and rescues. This shelter has helped me many times to rescue dogs from main highway areas and the interstate and I’m grateful for that! Most shelters are accepting and helpful but this one really goes the extra miles to help the animals in our area. You can also rely on them to help you with your pet and information on care for them. When I could not afford a new igloo house for my pitty pup they helped me find a used one I could afford. I’m forever thankful for these loving people and their community connections and all their helpful, loving time, and efforts

They Should asked for bleach and cleaning supplies it almost at a neglect level. Almost wanted to file a complaint about the sanitation at this location nothing like Huntsville very clean facility up there

I put in a Online Adoption Application and later found out the pet I was trying to adopt was a inside pet only, he was a stray so I wonder if he had a note telling them he was an inside dog only and if so why was it not noted that he was. I feel sorry for a dog that has to stay inside and never get out. This dog would have spent many hrs outside with me during the day and inside at night but guess he will make someone an inside pet. Too bad for I know he would have been very happy at my place.

Thank you all sooooooo much for taking such good care of Wolf while he was missing. I'm so happy to have him back home and safe. I can tell that you all didn't mistreat him and I'm so glad I have him back with me. I can't thank you all enough. It really means a lot to me. God bless you all.I want to add that I also like how clean everything is there. It didn't have a bad smell as I had expected or anything. I adopted two 4 month old kittens from this shelter and both had Coccidia. Animals should not be adopted out that are sick. Luckily, I do not have other animals that were infected with this nasty parasite that causes diarrhea and vomiting, which makes the animals very sick. This has been costly and so unfortunate for my new kitties. My recommendation is to never adopt a dog or cat until you see them use the bathroom. This is a great indicator of their health.

By far the most apathetic, ill mannered kill shelter I have been to! I went in to see if my missing cats had possibly been picked up. As I explained a kennel staff member, clearly not paying attention to me as I spoke to her, began laughing at another staff member dropping something. Another staff member went into the cat room ahead of me and shut the door on me and didn't apologize. She was leading me into the area to look at the cats. Did she forget what she was doing?they didn't seem to care that my fur kids were missing and seemed to be annoyed by me checking to see if my cats were there. These people should not be working with animals or humans. The poor cats and dogs needing love and a home deserve much better. Shame on this shelter!

Don't dare adopt from here. We just adopted two cats and both. Some home so sick with Respiratory infection. Now after taking them to the vet with another bill we have to treat them with more meds and keep them isolated for at least two weeks from our other.cat. The one cat is so sick. Why did they spay her when she had a 103 temp. It was on her papers. Our vet told us never to adopt from there. They have a bad reputation for having sick animals. The place is dirty. This is highly contagious to other animals. We did not expect to. Bring home a sick cat. Never adopt from here!!!! They need to clean up and treat their animals if they are sick. Before adopting out.

A lot of dogs and cats need good homes plus it t is cheaper to adopt than it is to buy from a breeder I adopted a black cat from this shelter . The day I brought him home he was purring . I believe he was saying thank you for adopting me and giving me a fur ever home. I even have him microchipped in case he gets out . He is strictly an indoor cat

Responsive, caring, and accomodating! I lived a a couple hours away from the shelter, so it was difficult to make it down. The staff offered to meet half way which made it so much easier! They were quick to respond to my adoption application and kept me updated. My furry companion is a perfect match:) Thank you Athens Animal Shelter!!!
